1:1 These are the words of blessing spoken by Enoch, with which he blessed the chosen and righteous, who shall be living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and ungodly shall be removed.
1:2 And Enoch, a righteous man whose eyes were opened by God, answered and spoke, saying: "I saw a holy vision in the heavens, which the angels showed me. From them I heard everything, and I understood what I saw. But this vision is not for this generation; rather, it concerns a distant generation yet to come."
1:3 Concerning the chosen ones, I spoke and declared this prophecy about them: "The Holy and Great One shall come forth from His dwelling place, the Eternal God."
1:4 "And from there He shall tread upon Mount Sinai, and He shall appear in His majesty, revealing Himself from heaven in the strength of His mighty power."
1:5 "And all shall be struck with fear. The Watchers shall tremble, and great fear and trembling shall seize them, reaching even to the ends of the earth."
1:6 "And the lofty mountains shall be shaken, and the high hills shall be brought low. They shall melt like wax before the flame."
1:7 "And the earth shall be torn apart, and everything upon the earth shall perish. And judgment shall come upon all, even upon all the righteous."
1:8 "But for the righteous, He shall establish peace. He shall protect the chosen ones, and mercy shall rest upon them. They shall all belong to God, and they shall prosper and be blessed. And the light of God shall shine upon them."
1:9 "And behold! He comes with myriads of His holy ones to execute judgment upon all. He shall destroy the wicked and bring all flesh to account for everything they have done, and for all the sinful and ungodly deeds they have committed against Him."
2:1 Observe all the works that take place in heaven. See how the heavenly lights do not depart from their appointed paths, but each rises and sets in its proper order, each in its appointed season, never transgressing the commands given to them.
2:2 Look upon the earth and consider the works that are accomplished upon it, from the beginning to the end. See how none of the works of God change, but all are made manifest according to His established order.
2:3 Observe the summer and the winter, how the whole earth is filled with water, and how clouds, dew, and rain descend and rest upon it.
3:1 Observe and consider how all the trees appear to wither, and how their leaves fall away. Yet fourteen kinds of trees do not shed their leaves. These retain their old foliage until new growth appears, enduring through two or three winters.
4:1 And again, observe the days of summer, when the sun stands over the earth, shining upon its surface. Because of the burning heat of the sun, you seek shade and shelter. The earth itself grows hot beneath the scorching heat, so that you cannot walk upon the ground or upon the rocks because of their burning warmth.
5:1 Observe how the trees clothe themselves in green leaves and bear fruit. Consider all these things, and understand how the One who lives forever has made them all for you.
5:2 Year after year, His works continue before Him. All His creation serves Him and does not depart from its appointed course. Everything takes place according to the order that God has established.
5:3 Observe how the seas and rivers together fulfill their appointed tasks.
5:4 But you have not remained steadfast, nor have you obeyed the commandments of the Lord. Instead, you have turned away from His commands and spoken proud, harsh, and offensive words against His greatness with your unclean mouths. You who are hard of heart, there shall be no peace for you.
5:5 Therefore, you shall curse the days of your lives, and the years appointed to you shall perish. An everlasting curse shall increase against you, and you shall find no mercy.
5:6 In those days, your names shall become a curse forever among the righteous. Through your names, sinners shall continually pronounce curses, and you shall share the fate of the wicked.
5:7 But for the chosen ones, there shall be light, joy, and peace, and they shall inherit the earth. For you, however, who practice wickedness, there shall be a curse.
5:8 Then wisdom shall be given to the chosen ones, and they shall all live without returning to sin, whether through wickedness or pride. Those who possess wisdom shall humble themselves and shall not again commit wrongdoing.
5:9 They shall not be condemned throughout all the days of their lives, nor shall they perish through plague or divine wrath. Instead, they shall complete the full number of their appointed days, and their lives shall grow old in peace. Their years of happiness shall increase in joy and everlasting peace throughout all the days of their lives.
6:1 And it came to pass, when the children of humanity had multiplied, that in those days beautiful and lovely daughters were born to them.
6:2 And the angels, the sons of heaven, saw these women and desired them. They said to one another: "Come, let us choose wives for ourselves from among the daughters of humanity, and let us have children by them."
6:3 Then Semyaza, who was their leader, said to them: "I fear that you may not truly be willing to carry out this deed, and that I alone shall be left to bear the punishment for this great sin."
6:4 But they all answered him, saying: "Let us all swear an oath, and let us bind ourselves together by a mutual pledge, so that none of us shall abandon this plan, but that we shall all carry it out."
6:5 Then they all swore together and bound themselves to one another by their solemn oath. And they were two hundred in number.
6:6 They descended in the days of Jared upon the summit of Mount Hermon. And they called the mountain Hermon because there they had sworn their oath and bound themselves together by their mutual pledge.
6:7 These were the names of their leaders: Semyaza, who was their chief; Urakibaramel, Akibeel, Tamiel, Ramuel, Daniel, Ezeqeel, Saraqyal, Asael, Armers, Batraal, Anani, Zaqebe, Samsaweel, Sartael, Turel, Yomyael, and Arazial. These were the leaders of the two hundred angels, together with all the others who accompanied them.
7:1 And they took wives for themselves, each choosing one woman, and they began to go in to them and unite themselves with them. They taught the women enchantments and magical arts, and instructed them in the cutting of roots and the knowledge of trees and plants.
7:2 And the women conceived and gave birth to great giants, whose height was three thousand cubits.
7:3 These giants consumed all the labor and provisions of humanity, until human beings were no longer able to sustain them.
7:4 Then the giants turned against humanity and began to devour human beings.
7:5 And they began to sin against the birds, the beasts, the creeping creatures, and the fish. They devoured one another's flesh and drank blood.
7:6 Then the earth brought an accusation against the lawless ones.
8:1 And Azazel taught humanity how to make swords, knives, shields, and breastplates. He revealed to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, the making of bracelets and ornaments, the use of cosmetics and the painting of the eyes, the beautifying of eyebrows, the use of precious and costly stones, and every kind of colored dye. And the world was changed.
8:2 Then great wickedness arose, and fornication became widespread. Humanity went astray, and all their ways became corrupt.
8:3 Amezarak taught the enchanters and those who cut roots. Armaros taught the breaking of enchantments. Baraqiel taught the observation of the stars. Kokabiel taught the signs. Tamiel taught the visions of the stars, and Asradel taught the course of the moon.
8:4 And as humanity perished, their cries rose up and reached heaven.
9:1 Then Michael, Gabriel, Suriel, and Uriel looked down from heaven and saw the great amount of blood being shed upon the earth, and all the injustice and lawlessness being committed upon it.
9:2 And they said to one another: "The voice of their cries has risen from the desolate earth, reaching even to the gates of heaven."
9:3 "And now, O holy ones of heaven, the souls of humanity bring their accusations before you, saying, 'Bring our cause before the Most High, that He may grant us justice.'"
9:4 Then they spoke to their Lord, the King, saying: "You are the Lord of lords, the God of gods, and the King of kings. The throne of Your glory endures throughout every generation of the world, and Your name is holy and glorious throughout all generations. Blessed and glorified are You."
9:5 "You have created all things, and authority over everything belongs to You. All things are open and revealed before You. You see everything, and nothing can be hidden from Your sight."
9:6 "You have seen what Azazel has done, how he has taught all manner of wickedness upon the earth and revealed the hidden mysteries of the world, the things that are practiced in heaven."
9:7 "And Semyaza, to whom You gave authority over those who were with him, has taught enchantments."
9:8 "They went together to the daughters of humanity and lay with these women, defiling themselves and revealing these sins to them."
9:9 "And the women gave birth to giants, and through them the whole earth has been filled with bloodshed and injustice."
9:10 "And now, behold, the souls of those who have died cry out and bring their accusations to the gates of heaven. Their lamentations have ascended, and they cannot escape the wickedness being committed upon the earth."
9:11 "You know all things before they come to pass. You know these things and all that concerns them, yet You have not told us what we should do with them."
10:1 Then the Most High, the Great and Holy One, spoke and sent Arsyalalyur to the son of Lamech, saying:
10:2 "Go to him and speak in My name. Tell him to hide himself, and reveal to him the end that is approaching. For the whole earth is about to be destroyed, and a great flood of waters shall come upon all the earth, destroying everything that dwells upon it."
10:3 "And now instruct him, so that he may escape and his descendants may be preserved for all the generations of the earth."
10:4 And again the Lord spoke to Raphael: "Bind Azazel by his hands and feet, and cast him into darkness. Open a place in the wilderness that lies in Dudael, and cast him there."
10:5 "Place sharp and jagged stones upon him, and cover him with darkness. Let him remain there forever, and cover his face so that he may never behold the light."
10:6 "And on the great day of judgment, he shall be cast into the fire."
10:7 "Heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, so that its wounds may be restored and all the children of humanity may not perish because of the secret things which the Watchers have revealed and taught to their offspring."
10:8 "For the whole earth has been corrupted through the works taught by Azazel. Therefore, ascribe to him all sin."
10:9 And the Lord said to Gabriel: "Go against the corrupt ones, the offspring of fornication, and the children born of unlawful unions. Destroy the offspring of the Watchers from among humanity."
10:10 "Set them against one another, so that they may destroy each other in battle, for they shall not enjoy long lives."
10:11 "And though they plead with you, nothing shall be granted to their fathers on their behalf, even though they hope to live forever and that each of them might live for five hundred years."
10:12 And the Lord said to Michael: "Go, make known to Semyaza and to the others who joined themselves to women, and who defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness, the judgment that awaits them."
10:13 "When all their offspring have destroyed one another, and when they have witnessed the destruction of those whom they loved, bind them for seventy generations beneath the hills of the earth, until the day of their judgment and their appointed end, when the everlasting judgment shall be accomplished."
10:14 "In those days they shall be led into the depths of fire, into torment and imprisonment, where they shall be confined forever."
10:15 "And whoever burns and is destroyed shall be bound together with them from that time until the end of all generations."
10:16 "Destroy all the spirits of the corrupt ones and the offspring of the Watchers, for they have oppressed humanity."
10:17 "Remove all oppression from the face of the earth, and let every evil work come to an end. Then let the plant of righteousness and truth appear, and let it become a blessing. The works of righteousness and truth shall be planted in joy forever."
10:18 "And then all the righteous shall escape and live until they beget a thousand children. All the days of their youth and their old age shall be completed in peace."
10:19 "And in those days the whole earth shall be cultivated in righteousness, and it shall be planted with trees and filled with blessings."
10:20 "Every tree of delight shall be planted upon it, and vines shall be planted there. The vines shall produce fruit in abundance."
10:21 "And every measure of seed sown upon the earth shall produce a thousand measures, and one measure of olives shall yield ten measures of oil."
10:22 "And cleanse the earth from all oppression, from all injustice, from all sin, from all wickedness, and from every impurity committed upon it. Destroy all these things from the face of the earth."
10:23 "And all the children of humanity shall become righteous, and all the nations shall worship Me and bless Me, and all shall bow down before Me."
10:24 "And the earth shall be cleansed from all corruption, from all sin, from every plague, and from every affliction. Never again shall I send a flood upon it, throughout all generations, forever."
11:1 "And in those days, I shall open the storehouses of blessing that are in heaven, so that I may pour them down upon the earth, upon the works and labors of the children of humanity."
11:2 "And peace and righteousness shall dwell together throughout all the days of the world and throughout every generation forever."
12:1 Before all these things took place, Enoch had been hidden away, and none among the children of humanity knew where he had been concealed, where he was dwelling, or what had become of him.
12:2 And all his works were among the holy ones and the Watchers in his days.
12:3 And I, Enoch, was blessing the Great Lord and the King of the ages. And behold, the Watchers called upon me, Enoch the scribe, and said to me:
12:4 "Enoch, scribe of righteousness, go and declare to the Watchers of heaven, who have abandoned the highest heaven and the holy, eternal dwelling place. They have defiled themselves with women, acting as the children of humanity act. They have taken wives for themselves and brought great corruption upon the earth."
12:5 "Tell them that they shall have neither peace nor forgiveness of sin upon the earth. For they shall not rejoice in their children."
12:6 "They shall witness the slaughter of those whom they love, and they shall lament over the destruction of their children. They shall plead forever, yet neither mercy nor peace shall be granted to them."
13:1 Then Enoch went and spoke to Azazel, saying: "There shall be no peace for you. A great judgment has been pronounced against you, and you shall be bound."
13:2 "You shall receive neither relief, nor the granting of your petitions, nor mercy, because of the injustice you have taught and because of all the deeds of blasphemy, oppression, and sin that you have revealed to the children of humanity."
13:3 Then I went and spoke to all the Watchers together. They were all seized with fear, and trembling and terror overcame them.
13:4 And they asked me to write a petition on their behalf, seeking forgiveness, and to carry their written request before the God of heaven.
13:5 For from that time onward, they could no longer speak to Him themselves, nor could they raise their eyes toward heaven, because of the shame of the sins for which they had been condemned.
13:6 Then I wrote down their petition and their supplication concerning their spirits, their individual deeds, and their request for forgiveness and patience.
13:7 And I went and sat beside the waters of Dan, in the land of Dan, which lies to the west of Mount Hermon. There I read their petition until I fell asleep.
13:8 And behold, a dream came upon me, and visions descended upon me. I saw a vision of punishment, and I was commanded to speak to the sons of heaven and rebuke them.
13:9 When I awoke, I returned to them. And behold, they were all gathered together, sitting in mourning at Ubelsyael, which lies between Lebanon and Seneser, with their faces covered.
13:10 And I spoke before them all the visions I had seen in my sleep. Then I began to declare the words of righteousness and to rebuke the Watchers of heaven.
14:1 This is the book of the words of righteousness and the rebuke of the Watchers who have existed from ancient times, according to what the Great and Holy One commanded in that vision.
14:2 I saw these things in my sleep, and now I shall recount them with the tongue of flesh and with the breath of my mouth, which the Great One has given to humanity so that they may speak and understand within their hearts.
14:3 Just as He created humanity and gave them the ability to understand words of knowledge, so He created me and gave me the power to rebuke the Watchers, the sons of heaven.
14:4 "I have written your petition, but in my vision it was revealed to me that your request shall not be granted throughout all the generations of the world. Judgment has been fully pronounced against you, and you shall receive no forgiveness."
14:5 "From this time forward, you shall never again ascend into heaven. It has been decreed that you shall remain bound upon the earth throughout all the generations of the world."
14:6 "But before this, you shall witness the destruction of your beloved children. You shall not possess them or enjoy their company, for they shall fall before your eyes by the sword."
14:7 "Your petition on their behalf shall not be granted, nor shall your petition for yourselves. Though you weep and make supplication, you shall receive no answer, not even a single word from the writing I have prepared."
14:8 And the vision appeared to me in this manner: Behold, clouds called to me in the vision, and a mist summoned me. The courses of the stars and the flashes of lightning hurried and drove me onward, while the winds lifted me up and carried me away.
14:9 And they bore me upward into heaven. I approached a place where a structure stood, built of stones like hail, and tongues of fire surrounded it. And I began to be afraid.
14:10 I passed through the tongues of fire and approached a great house built of stones like hailstones. The walls of that house were like a pavement made of slabs of ice, and its floor was like ice.
14:11 Its ceiling was like the courses of the stars and the flashes of lightning. Among them were fiery cherubim, and above them was something like water.
14:12 A blazing fire surrounded its walls, and its doors burned with fire.
14:13 And I entered that house. It was hot as fire and cold as ice. There was no comfort or sign of life within it. Fear overwhelmed me, and trembling seized me.
14:14 And as I trembled and shook, I fell upon my face and beheld another vision.
14:15 And behold, I saw another house, greater than the first. All its doors stood open before me, and it was built of tongues of fire.
14:16 In every respect it surpassed the first house in glory, honor, and majesty, so greatly that I cannot describe to you the fullness of its glory or its greatness.
14:17 Its floor was of fire, and above it were lightning and the courses of the stars. Its ceiling also was a blazing fire.
14:18 And I looked and saw within it a lofty throne. Its appearance was like crystal, and its surrounding brilliance was like the shining sun, and I heard the voices of the cherubim.
14:19 From beneath the great throne flowed rivers of blazing fire, so that it was impossible to gaze upon it.
14:20 And the Great Glory sat upon the throne. His garment shone more brightly than the sun and was whiter than any snow.
14:21 No angel could enter and look upon the face of the Glorious and Honored One, nor could any being of flesh behold Him.
14:22 A fire of blazing flames surrounded Him, and a great fire stood before Him. None of those who surrounded Him could approach Him. Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him, yet He had no need of counsel.
14:23 And the holy ones who were near Him did not depart from Him by night or by day, nor did they withdraw from His presence.
14:24 And until that moment, I had remained lying upon my face, trembling. Then the Lord called me with His own mouth and said to me: "Come near, Enoch, and hear My holy word."
14:25 And He raised me up and brought me near to the doorway. But I kept my face lowered toward the ground.
15:1 And He answered me and spoke to me with His own voice, saying: "Listen, and do not be afraid, Enoch, righteous man and scribe of righteousness. Come near and hear My words."
15:2 "Go and speak to the Watchers of heaven who sent you to plead on their behalf. You ought to intercede for humanity, and not humanity for you."
15:3 "Why have you abandoned the high, holy, and eternal heaven, and lain with women? Why have you defiled yourselves with the daughters of humanity, taking wives for yourselves and acting as the children of the earth act, and fathering giant offspring?"
15:4 "You were holy, spiritual beings, possessing eternal life. Yet you defiled yourselves with women and fathered children through mortal flesh and blood. You desired the blood of humanity and acted as beings of flesh and blood act; those who are mortal and destined to perish."
15:5 "For this reason, I gave human beings wives, so that they might have children through them, and so that generations might continue upon the earth."
15:6 "But you were spiritual beings from the beginning, possessing eternal life, and you were not subject to death throughout all the generations of the world."
15:7 "Therefore, I did not appoint wives for you, for the dwelling place of spiritual beings is in heaven."
15:8 "And now, the giants who were born from spirit and flesh shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and the earth shall be their dwelling place."
15:9 "Evil spirits have come forth from their bodies. Because they were created from above, and because their origin and first foundation were from the holy Watchers, they shall become evil spirits upon the earth, and evil spirits shall they be called."
15:10 "The spirits of heaven shall have their dwelling place in heaven, but the spirits born upon the earth shall have their dwelling place upon the earth."
15:11 "And the spirits of the giants shall oppress, corrupt, attack, fight, and bring destruction upon the earth. They shall cause sorrow and suffering."
15:12 "They shall take no food, nor shall they thirst, and they shall remain unseen."
15:13 "And these spirits shall rise against the children of humanity and against women, for they came forth in the days of slaughter and destruction."
16:1 "And after the death of the giants, when their spirits have departed from their bodies of flesh, those spirits shall continue to bring destruction without receiving judgment. Thus shall they continue to corrupt and destroy until the great day of judgment, when the judgment of the great age shall be completed upon the Watchers and the wicked."
16:2 "And now, concerning the Watchers who sent you to intercede for them, those who formerly dwelt in heaven, say to them:"
16:3 "You once dwelt in heaven, but not all its hidden mysteries had been revealed to you. You learned mysteries that were worthless, and in the hardness of your hearts you disclosed them to women. Through these mysteries, women and men have multiplied evil upon the earth."
16:4 "Therefore, say to them: 'You shall have no peace.'"
17:1 And they carried me to a place where there were beings who appeared like blazing fire, yet whenever they wished, they took on the appearance of human beings.
17:2 And they brought me to a place of violent storms, and to a mountain whose highest summit reached into heaven.
17:3 And I saw the places of the heavenly lights and the thunder at the farthest ends of the earth. There I saw the depths of the fiery bow, its arrows and their quivers, the sword of fire, and all the flashes of lightning.
17:4 And they carried me to the waters of life, as they are called, and to the fire of the west, which receives all the settings of the sun.
17:5 And I came to a river of fire, whose fire flowed like water and emptied into the great sea toward the west.
17:6 And I saw all the great rivers, and I reached the great darkness. And I journeyed to the place where all beings of flesh wander.
17:7 And I saw the mountains of the darkness of winter, and the place from which the waters of the deep pour forth.
17:8 And I saw the mouths of all the rivers of the earth, and the mouth of the great deep.
18:1 And I saw the storehouses of all the winds, and I saw how through them God had adorned all creation and established the foundations of the earth.
18:2 I saw the cornerstone of the earth, and I saw the four winds that support the earth and the firmament of heaven.
18:3 And I saw how the winds stretch out the heights of heaven, standing between heaven and earth. These are the pillars of heaven.
18:4 I saw the winds that turn the heavens and cause the sun and all the stars to set.
18:5 And upon the earth I saw the winds that carry the clouds. I saw the paths of the angels, and at the ends of the earth I saw the firmament of heaven above.
18:6 And I journeyed toward the south, to a place that burned day and night, where there were seven mountains of precious stone, three toward the east and three toward the south.
18:7 Of those toward the east, one was of colored stone, another of pearl-like stone, and another of healing stone. Those toward the south were of red stone.
18:8 But the mountain in the middle reached up to heaven, like the throne of God. It was made of alabaster-like stone, and the summit of the throne was of sapphire.
18:9 And I saw a blazing fire, and beyond these mountains I saw a place at the far end of the great earth, where the waters were gathered together.
18:10 And I saw a deep chasm in the earth, with pillars of heavenly fire. Among them I saw pillars of fire descending, whose height and depth were beyond measure.
18:11 And beyond that chasm I saw a place where there was neither the firmament of heaven above nor the foundation of the earth beneath. There was no water upon it, nor any birds. It was a desolate and terrible place.
18:12 And there I saw a dreadful sight: seven stars, like great burning mountains. And when I asked about them, the angel said to me:
18:13 "This place is the end of heaven and earth. It has become a prison for the stars of heaven and the powers of heaven."
18:14 "And the stars that roll about in the fire are those that transgressed the commandment of the Lord before the time appointed for their rising, because they did not appear at their appointed times."
18:15 "And He was angry with them and bound them until the time when their sin shall be brought to its appointed end, in the year of mystery."
19:1 And Uriel said to me: "Here shall stand the spirits of the angels who joined themselves to women. Their spirits, taking many forms, have corrupted humanity and led human beings astray, causing them to offer sacrifices to demons as though they were gods."
19:2 "Here they shall remain until the great day of judgment, when their judgment shall be brought to completion."
19:3 "And the women who led the angels of heaven astray shall become like peaceful beings."
19:4 And I, Enoch, alone saw the vision of the ends of all things, and no human being has seen what I have seen.
20:1
20:2 Uriel, one of the holy angels, who is over thunder and trembling.
20:3 Raphael, one of the holy angels, who is over the spirits of humanity.
20:4 Raguel, one of the holy angels, who takes vengeance upon the world and the heavenly lights.
20:5 Michael, one of the holy angels, who is appointed over the good of humanity and over the people.
20:6 Saraqael, one of the holy angels, who is appointed over the spirits of the children of humanity who cause spirits to sin.
20:7 Gabriel, one of the holy angels, who is appointed over the powers, over Paradise, and over the cherubim.
20:8
21:1 And I traveled onward until I reached a place where nothing had been made.
21:2 There I saw a dreadful sight: neither the heavens above nor the earth firmly established beneath, but a desolate and terrifying place.
21:3 And there I saw seven stars of heaven bound together, like great mountains, blazing with fire.
21:4 Then I said: "For what sin have they been bound, and why have they been cast into this place?"
21:5 And Uriel, one of the holy angels who was with me and guided me, answered: "Enoch, why do you ask about them? Why do you inquire and seek to know?"
21:6 "These are among the stars that transgressed the commandment of the Most High God. They have been bound here until the completion of ten thousand ages, the appointed period of their sin."
21:7 And from there I went to another place, even more terrible than the first. And I saw a dreadful sight: a great fire burning and blazing there, with a cleft extending down into the abyss, filled with great descending pillars of fire.
21:8 I could neither measure its extent nor its greatness, nor could I bear to look upon it.
21:9 Then I said: "How terrible is this place, and how painful it is to behold!"
21:10 And Uriel, one of the holy angels who was with me, answered and said: "Enoch, why are you so afraid and astonished at this terrible place and at the sight of this suffering?"
21:11 And he said to me: "This place is the prison of the angels, and here they shall be held forever."
22:1 And from there I journeyed to another place, and he showed me in the west a great and lofty mountain of hard rock, within which were four beautiful chambers.
22:2 And within them were deep and spacious places, exceedingly smooth, as though they had been polished. They were deep and dark to behold.
22:3 Then Raphael, one of the holy angels who was with me, answered and said: "These beautiful chambers have been made so that the spirits of the souls of the dead may be gathered into them. Here all the souls of the children of humanity shall be assembled."
22:4 "These places have been prepared to receive them until the day of their judgment, until the appointed time of their great judgment."
22:5 And I saw the spirits of the children of humanity who had died, and their voices rose up to heaven, making their accusations.
22:6 Then I asked Raphael, the angel who was with me: "Whose spirit is this, whose voice rises so high and makes such an accusation?"
22:7 And he answered me, saying: "This is the spirit of Abel, whom his brother Cain murdered. He cries out against him until his descendants are destroyed from the face of the earth and his offspring are wiped out from among humanity."
22:8 Then I asked concerning him and concerning the judgment of all, saying: "Why are these places separated from one another?"
22:9 And he answered me: "These three divisions have been made so that the spirits of the dead may be separated. Thus a place has been set apart for the souls of the righteous. There is a spring of water above it, and light shines upon it."
22:10 "In the same manner, a place has been prepared for sinners when they die and are buried in the earth, if judgment has not been executed upon them during their lives."
22:11 "Here their souls shall be separated for great suffering until the great day of judgment, punishment, and torment upon those who are accursed forever. There their souls shall be bound, and there they shall remain until their appointed judgment."
22:12 "And another place has been set apart for the souls of those who make accusations and reveal how they were destroyed when they were killed in the days of sinners."
22:13 "And another place has been prepared for the souls of those who were not righteous but were sinners, who were complete in wrongdoing and shared the ways of the wicked. Their souls shall not be slain on the day of judgment, nor shall they be raised from this place."
22:14 Then I blessed the Lord of Glory and said: "Blessed be my Lord, the Lord of Glory and Righteousness, who rules over all things forever."
23:1 And from there I journeyed to another place, toward the west, to the ends of the earth.
23:2 And I saw a blazing fire that ran without ceasing. It never rested from its course, either by day or by night, but continued always in the same manner.
23:3 Then I asked: "What is this fire that never rests?"
23:4 And Raguel, one of the holy angels who was with me, answered and said: "This course of blazing fire which you have seen toward the west belongs to all the lights of heaven."
24:1 And from there I journeyed to another place on the earth, and he showed me a mountain of fire that blazed day and night.
24:2 And I went toward it and saw seven magnificent mountains, each different from the others. Their stones were precious and beautiful, and all were splendid and glorious in appearance.
24:3 Three mountains stood toward the east, one rising above another, and three toward the north, likewise rising one above another. Between them were deep, winding valleys, none of which joined another.
24:4 And the seventh mountain stood in their midst, surpassing them all in height. They all resembled the seat of a throne, and fragrant trees surrounded them.
24:5 Among these trees was one whose fragrance I had never experienced. No other tree, nor anything like it, possessed such a fragrance, for its scent was sweeter than every other fragrance.
24:6 Its leaves, blossoms, and wood never withered, and its fruit was beautiful, resembling the clusters of a palm tree.
24:7 Then I said: "How beautiful is this tree, how delightful to behold! Its leaves are lovely, and its fruit is exceedingly pleasing to the eye."
24:8 Then Michael, one of the holy and honored angels who was with me, answered me concerning it.
25:1 And Michael said to me: "Enoch, why do you ask about the fragrance of this tree, and why do you seek to understand it?"
25:2 Then I, Enoch, answered him, saying: "I desire to know about everything, but especially about this tree."
25:3 And he answered me, saying: "This lofty mountain which you have seen, whose summit resembles the throne of the Lord, is His throne. It is where the Holy and Great One, the Lord of Glory, the Eternal King, shall sit when He descends to visit the earth in goodness."
25:4 "And as for this tree of beautiful fragrance, no mortal being has authority to touch it until the great judgment, when God shall take vengeance upon all and bring everything to its everlasting completion. Then it shall be given to the righteous and the humble."
25:5 "Its fruit shall be given to the chosen ones for life, and it shall be transplanted toward the north, into the holy place, beside the house of the Lord, the Eternal King."
25:6 "Then they shall rejoice with great joy and be glad in the holy place. Its fragrance shall enter their bones, and they shall live long lives upon the earth, as your ancestors lived."
25:7 "And in their days neither sorrow, suffering, toil, nor punishment shall touch them."
25:8 Then I blessed the Lord of Glory, the Eternal King, because He had prepared such things for righteous humanity, and because He had created them and promised to give them to the righteous.
26:1 And from there I journeyed toward the center of the earth, and I saw a blessed and fertile place, where trees grew and branches sprang forth from those that had been cut down.
26:2 There I saw a holy mountain, and beneath the mountain, on its eastern side, was water flowing toward the north.
26:3 And toward the east I saw another mountain, as high as the first. Between them lay a deep and narrow valley, through which water flowed toward the mountain.
26:4 And to the west of this was another mountain, lower than the others and not so high. Beneath it, between the mountains, lay a valley, and other deep, dry valleys extended toward the ends of the three mountains.
26:5 All these valleys were deep and narrow, formed of hard rock, and trees were planted upon them.
26:6 And I marveled at the rocky mountains, and I marveled at the valleys. Greatly did I wonder at all that I saw.
27:1 Then I said: "Why is this land blessed and filled with trees, while this valley in its midst is accursed?"
27:2 Then Uriel, one of the holy angels who was with me, answered and said: "This accursed valley is reserved for those who are accursed forever. Here shall be gathered all who speak improper words against the Lord with their mouths and utter outrageous things against His glory. Here they shall be assembled, and here shall be their place of judgment."
27:3 "And in the last days, a spectacle of righteous judgment shall be revealed upon them before the righteous forever. There those who have received mercy shall bless the Lord of Glory, the Eternal King."
27:4 "And in the days of their judgment, they shall bless Him for the mercy He has shown in setting them apart."
27:5 Then I also blessed the Lord of Glory, and I spoke to Him and praised Him according to the greatness that was His due.
28:1 And from there I journeyed eastward, toward the middle of the mountains of the wilderness, and I saw a solitary wilderness.
28:2 It was filled with trees of this kind, and water sprang forth from above and flowed over it.
28:3 The flowing water appeared abundant, streaming toward the northwest, and from every direction water and dew rose up.
29:1 And I went to another place in the wilderness, approaching the eastern side of that mountain.
29:2 There I saw trees of judgment, giving forth the fragrance of frankincense and myrrh. The trees were unlike one another.
30:1 And beyond these, above the eastern mountain and not far away, I saw another place: valleys of water that seemed never to run dry.
30:2 And I saw a beautiful tree whose fragrance was like that of the mastic tree.
30:3 Along the sides of those valleys I saw fragrant cinnamon trees, and beyond them I approached farther toward the east.
31:1 And I saw another mountain upon which there were trees, and water flowed forth from it, resembling nectar, whose name was Sarira and Kalbanen.
31:2 Beyond that mountain I saw another mountain, and upon it were aloe trees.
31:3 These trees were filled with a substance resembling hard, fragrant resin.
31:4 And when their fruit was taken, its fragrance was sweeter than every other perfume.
32:1 And beyond these fragrant trees, as I looked toward the east over the mountains, I saw seven mountains filled with choice aromatic plants, fragrant trees, cinnamon, and pepper.
32:2 And from there I journeyed over the summits of those mountains, far toward the east, and passed over the Erythraean Sea. I traveled far beyond it and passed over the angel Zutiel.
32:3 And I came to the Garden of Righteousness. There I saw, beyond the trees already mentioned, many great trees growing, beautiful and magnificent, with a delightful fragrance. Their appearance was glorious, and among them stood the tree of wisdom, from which those who eat receive great wisdom.
32:4 That tree resembled a carob tree, and its fruit was like beautiful clusters of grapes. Its fragrance spread far and wide.
32:5 Then I said: "How beautiful is this tree, and how pleasing and delightful it is to behold!"
32:6 And Raphael, the holy angel who was with me, answered and said: "This is the tree of wisdom, from which your ancient father and your aged mother, who came before you, ate. They acquired wisdom, and their eyes were opened. They knew that they were naked, and they were driven out of the garden."
33:1 And from there I journeyed to the ends of the earth. There I saw great beasts, each different from the others. And I saw birds whose appearances, beauty, and voices differed from one another.
33:2 To the east of those beasts, I saw the ends of the earth, where heaven comes to rest, and the gates of heaven standing open.
33:3 And I saw how the stars of heaven come forth. I counted the gates from which they emerge, and I wrote down all their risings, each according to its number.
33:4 I recorded their names, their ranks, their positions, their appointed times, and their months, just as the angel Uriel, who was with me, showed me.
33:5 He showed me everything and wrote it down for me. He also wrote down their names, their ordinances, and their workings.
34:1 And from there I journeyed toward the north, to the ends of the earth. There, at the farthest boundaries of the whole earth, I saw a great and glorious wonder.
34:2 And there I saw three gates of heaven standing open. From each of them the northern winds came forth, bringing cold, hail, frost, snow, dew, and rain.
34:3 When the wind blows from one of these gates, it blows gently and brings good. But when the winds blow from the other two gates, they come with force and hardship upon the earth, blowing with great power.
35:1 And from there I journeyed toward the west, to the ends of the earth.
35:2 There I saw three gates standing open, just as I had seen in the east, corresponding to the number of the gates and the manner of their openings.
36:1 And from there I journeyed toward the south, to the ends of the earth. There I saw three gates of heaven standing open, and from them came the southern wind, dew, rain, and wind.
36:2 And from there I journeyed toward the east, to the ends of heaven. There I saw three gates of heaven standing open toward the east, and above them were smaller gates.
36:3 Through each of these smaller gates the stars of heaven passed, journeying toward the west along the paths appointed for them.
36:4 And when I saw these things, I blessed the Lord of Glory. At all times I bless the Lord of Glory, who has made great and glorious wonders, so that He might reveal the greatness of His works to His angels and to the souls of humanity.
36:5 He has done this so that they may praise His works and all His deeds, behold the works of His power, glorify the great work of His hands, and bless Him forever.
37:1 The vision that Enoch saw: a second vision of wisdom. Enoch was the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan, the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam.
37:2 And this is the beginning of the words of wisdom that I have taken up to speak and declare to those who dwell upon the dry land. Hear, you who came before, and behold, you who come afterward, the holy words that I shall speak before the Lord of Spirits.
37:3 It would be better to speak these things to those of former times, yet wisdom shall not be withheld from those who come afterward.
37:4 Until now, such wisdom as I have received has not been granted to me before the Lord of Spirits, according to my understanding and according to the will of the Lord of Spirits, from whom I have received a portion of eternal life.
37:5 And three parables were given to me, and I began to speak them to those who dwell upon the dry land.
38:1 The first parable. When the assembly of the righteous appears, sinners shall be judged for their sins and driven from the face of the dry land.
38:2 And when the Righteous One appears before the righteous, whose deeds are held in the presence of the Lord of Spirits, and when light appears to the righteous and the chosen who dwell upon the dry land; Where then shall be the dwelling place of sinners? Where shall those who have denied the Lord of Spirits find rest? It would have been better for them if they had never been born.
38:3 And when the hidden things of the righteous are revealed, sinners shall be judged, and the wicked shall be driven away from the presence of the righteous and the chosen.
38:4 From that time onward, those who possess the earth shall no longer be powerful or exalted. They shall not be able to look upon the faces of the holy ones, for the light of the Lord of Spirits shall shine upon the faces of the holy, the righteous, and the chosen.
38:5 And the mighty kings shall perish at that time, and they shall be delivered into the hands of the righteous and the holy.
38:6 And from that time onward, none shall be able to seek mercy from the Lord of Spirits on their behalf, for their life shall have come to an end.
39:1 And in those days, the children of the chosen and the holy shall descend from the highest heavens, and their offspring shall become one with the children of humanity.
39:2 In those days, Enoch received books of zeal and wrath, and books of turmoil and disturbance. And the Lord of Spirits said that mercy would not be granted to them.
39:3 And at that time, a cloud and a whirlwind carried me away from the face of the earth and set me at the ends of the heavens.
39:4 And there I saw another vision: the dwelling places of the righteous and the resting places of the holy.
39:5 There my eyes beheld their dwelling places with the angels and their resting places with the holy ones. They made petitions, offered supplications, and prayed on behalf of the children of humanity. Righteousness flowed before them like water, and mercy was like dew upon the earth. Thus it was among them forever and ever.
39:6 And in those days my eyes saw the dwelling place of the chosen ones of righteousness and faithfulness. Righteousness shall prevail in their days, and the righteous and the chosen shall be without number before Him forever and ever.
39:7 And I saw their dwelling place beneath the wings of the Lord of Spirits. All the righteous and the chosen shone before Him like the light of fire. Their mouths were filled with blessing, and their lips praised the name of the Lord of Spirits. And righteousness before Him shall never cease.
39:8 There I desired to dwell, and my soul longed for that dwelling place. There my portion had already been appointed, for so it had been established concerning me before the Lord of Spirits.
39:9 And in those days I praised and exalted the name of the Lord of Spirits with blessing and glory, for He had established me in blessing and glory according to His will.
39:10 And for a long time my eyes gazed upon that place, and I blessed Him, saying: "Blessed is He, and blessed may He be from the beginning and forever."
39:11 "Before Him there is no end. He knows, before the world was created, what the world is and what shall come to pass throughout every generation."
39:12 "Those who do not sleep bless You. They stand before Your glory, blessing, praising, and exalting You, saying: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Spirits; He fills the earth with spirits.'"
39:13 And there my eyes saw all those who do not sleep standing before Him, blessing Him and saying: "Blessed are You, and blessed is the name of the Lord forever and ever."
39:14 And my face was changed, until I could no longer look upon the vision.
40:1 And after this I saw thousands upon thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand, without number or reckoning, standing before the glory of the Lord of Spirits.
40:2 And I looked, and on the four sides of the Lord of Spirits I saw four figures, different from those who stood before Him. I learned their names, for the angel who accompanied me revealed their names to me and showed me all the hidden things.
40:3 And I heard the voices of those four figures as they offered praise before the Lord of Glory.
40:4 The first voice blessed the Lord of Spirits forever and ever.
40:5 And I heard the second voice blessing the Chosen One and the chosen ones who are upheld by the Lord of Spirits.
40:6 And I heard the third voice making petitions and offering prayers on behalf of those who dwell upon the dry land, interceding in the name of the Lord of Spirits.
40:7 And I heard the fourth voice driving away the satans, not allowing them to enter before the Lord of Spirits to bring accusations against those who dwell upon the dry land.
40:8 After this, I asked the angel of peace who accompanied me and revealed to me everything that was hidden: "Who are these four figures whom I have seen, whose voices I have heard and whose words I have recorded?"
40:9 And he said to me: "The first is the holy Michael, who is merciful and slow to anger. The second is Raphael, who is appointed over every disease and every wound of the children of humanity. The third is the holy Gabriel, who is appointed over every power. And the fourth is Phanuel, who is appointed over repentance and the hope of those who shall inherit eternal life."
40:10 These are the four angels of the Most High God, and these are the four voices that I heard in those days.
41:1 And after this I saw all the hidden mysteries of the heavens, and how the kingdom is divided, and how the deeds of humanity are weighed in the balance.
41:2 There I saw the dwelling places of the chosen and the dwelling places of the holy. And my eyes saw all the sinners who denied the name of the Lord of Spirits being driven away from there. They were dragged away and could not remain because of the punishment that proceeds from the Lord of Spirits.
41:3 And there my eyes saw the hidden places of lightning and thunder, and the mysteries of the winds: how they are divided so that they may blow upon the earth. I also saw the hidden places of the clouds and the dew.
41:4 And there I saw the place from which they go forth, and from which they water and satisfy the dust of the earth.
41:5 And there I saw the storehouses from which the winds are distributed, and the storehouse of hail, the storehouse of mist, and the storehouse of clouds. And the clouds have rested above the earth from the beginning of the world.
41:6 And I saw the storehouses of the sun and the moon, from where they come forth and where they return, and the glory of their return. I saw how one is greater in glory than the other, and how magnificent are their courses.
41:7 They do not depart from their appointed paths, nor do they add to or diminish their courses. They preserve faithfulness toward one another according to the oath by which they were established.
41:8 And the sun goes forth first and completes its course according to the commandment of the Lord of Spirits, whose name is established forever and ever.
41:9 And after this comes the hidden and visible course of the moon. It completes the journey of its course in that place by day and by night. The sun and moon face one another before the Lord of Spirits, giving thanks and offering praise without ceasing, for their thanksgiving is their rest.
41:10 For the shining sun has many changes, bringing blessing and curse. And the course of the moon's journey is light for the righteous and darkness for sinners, in the name of the Lord who created the division between light and darkness.
41:11 He has divided the spirits of humanity and strengthened the spirits of the righteous in the name of His righteousness.
41:12 For neither angel nor any power can hinder Him, because He is the Judge of them all. He sees all things, and He judges them all before Him.
42:1 Wisdom found no place where she might dwell, and so her dwelling place was in the heavens.
42:2 Wisdom went forth to dwell among the children of humanity, but she found no dwelling place. So Wisdom returned to her own place and took her seat among the angels.
42:3 And Unrighteousness came forth from her chambers. She found those whom she had not sought, and dwelt among them, like rain upon a wilderness and like dew upon a thirsty land.
43:1 And I saw other flashes of lightning and the stars of heaven. I saw how He called them all by their names, and they answered Him.
43:2 And I saw how they were weighed in a righteous balance, according to their lights, the breadth of their places, the day of their appearance, and their movements. Lightning gives birth to lightning, and their movements are according to the number of the angels. They preserve faithfulness among themselves.
43:3 Then I asked the angel who accompanied me and showed me the hidden things: "What are these?"
43:4 And he said to me: "The Lord of Spirits has shown you their meaning. These are the names of the righteous who dwell upon the dry land and believe in the name of the Lord of Spirits forever and ever."
44:1 And I saw another thing concerning the lightning: how it arises from the stars and becomes lightning, and how it cannot separate itself from them.
45:1 And this is the second parable, concerning those who deny the name of the dwelling place of the holy ones and of the Lord of Spirits.
45:2 They shall neither ascend into heaven nor reach the earth. Such shall be the portion of sinners who deny the name of the Lord of Spirits, who are kept for the day of suffering and affliction.
45:3 On that day, My Chosen One shall sit upon the throne of glory and shall judge their deeds. And the dwelling places of the chosen shall be without number, and their spirits shall be strengthened within them when they behold My Chosen One and those who have called upon My holy and glorious name.
45:4 And on that day I shall cause My Chosen One to dwell among them. I shall transform heaven and make it a blessing and an everlasting light.
45:5 And I shall transform the dry land and make it a blessing. I shall cause My chosen ones to dwell upon it, but those who commit sin and wrongdoing shall not set foot upon it.
45:6 For I have seen My righteous ones and satisfied them with peace, and I have established them before Me. But judgment has drawn near for sinners, so that I may destroy them from the face of the earth.
46:1 And there I saw One who had a Head of Days, and His head was white like wool. And with Him was another, whose face had the appearance of a human being, and whose countenance was full of grace, like one of the holy angels.
46:2 And I asked one of the angels who accompanied me and showed me all the hidden things concerning that Son of Man: "Who is He, and from where does He come? Why does He accompany the Head of Days?"
46:3 And he answered me, saying: "This is the Son of Man, to whom righteousness belongs, and with whom righteousness dwells. He reveals all the storehouses of hidden things, because the Lord of Spirits has chosen Him, and His portion has prevailed in righteousness before the Lord of Spirits forever."
46:4 "And this Son of Man whom you have seen shall raise kings and mighty ones from their resting places, and the powerful from their thrones. He shall loosen the restraints of the mighty and break the teeth of sinners."
46:5 "He shall cast kings down from their thrones and from their kingdoms, because they do not exalt Him, nor praise Him, nor humbly acknowledge the One from whom their kingdom was given to them."
46:6 "He shall cast down the faces of the mighty and fill them with shame. Darkness shall become their dwelling place, and worms shall become their resting place. They shall have no hope of rising from their resting places, because they do not exalt the name of the Lord of Spirits."
46:7 "These are the ones who judge the stars of heaven, raise their hands against the Most High, and tread upon the dry land and dwell upon it. All their deeds are unrighteous, and they display their unrighteous works."
46:8 "Their strength rests upon their wealth, and their faith is in the gods they have made with their own hands. They have denied the name of the Lord of Spirits."
46:9 "And they persecute those gathered in His houses of assembly, and the faithful who depend upon the name of the Lord of Spirits."
47:1 And in those days, the prayers of the righteous and the blood of the righteous shall ascend from the earth before the Lord of Spirits.
47:2 In those days, the holy ones who dwell in the heavens above shall unite with one voice. They shall make supplication, pray, praise, give thanks, and bless the name of the Lord of Spirits on account of the blood of the righteous that has been shed.
47:3 And they shall pray that the supplication of the righteous may not cease before the Lord of Spirits, that judgment may be accomplished on their behalf, and that their suffering may not continue forever.
47:4 And in those days I saw the Head of Days as He sat upon the throne of His glory. The books of the living were opened before Him, and all His heavenly hosts and those surrounding Him stood in His presence.
47:5 And the hearts of the holy ones were filled with joy, because the appointed number of the righteous had been fulfilled. The prayers of the righteous had been heard, and the blood of the righteous had been accepted before the Lord of Spirits.
48:1 And in that place I saw a fountain of righteousness that could never be exhausted. Around it were many fountains of wisdom, and all who thirsted drank from them and were filled with wisdom. Their dwelling places were among the righteous, the holy, and the chosen.
48:2 And at that hour, that Son of Man was named in the presence of the Lord of Spirits, and His name was spoken before the Head of Days.
48:3 Before the sun was created and before the stars of heaven were made, His name was spoken before the Lord of Spirits.
48:4 He shall be a staff for the righteous and the holy, upon whom they may lean and not fall. He shall be the light of the nations and the hope of those whose hearts are troubled.
48:5 All who dwell upon the dry land shall fall down and worship before Him. They shall bless Him, praise Him, and sing praises in the name of the Lord of Spirits.
48:6 For this reason He was chosen and hidden before Him, before the world was created, and He shall remain before Him forever.
48:7 And the wisdom of the Lord of Spirits has revealed Him to the holy and the righteous, because He has preserved the portion of the righteous. For they have hated and rejected this world of unrighteousness, and they have hated all its deeds and ways in the name of the Lord of Spirits. For in His name they shall be saved, and His will has determined their life.
48:8 And in those days the kings of the earth and the mighty who possess the dry land shall be humbled because of the deeds of their hands. For on the day of their distress and affliction, they shall not be able to save themselves.
48:9 And I shall deliver them into the hands of My chosen ones. Like grass in the fire and like lead in water, so shall they burn before the righteous and sink before the holy, until no trace of them can be found.
48:10 And on the day of their affliction, there shall be rest upon the earth. They shall fall before Him and shall not rise again. There shall be no one to take them by the hand and raise them up, because they have denied the Lord of Spirits and His Messiah.
48:11 Blessed be the name of the Lord of Spirits.
49:1 For wisdom has been poured out like water, and glory shall never cease before Him forever and ever.
49:2 For He is mighty in all the mysteries of righteousness, and unrighteousness shall pass away like a shadow and shall have no lasting place. For the Chosen One stands before the Lord of Spirits, and His glory endures forever and ever, and His power throughout all generations.
49:3 And in Him dwells the spirit of wisdom, the spirit that gives understanding, the spirit of instruction and power, and the spirit of those who have fallen asleep in righteousness.
49:4 And He shall judge the hidden things, and no one shall be able to utter a false word before Him, because He is the Chosen One before the Lord of Spirits, according to His will.
50:1 And in those days a change shall come upon the holy and the chosen. The light of days shall dwell upon them, and glory and honor shall return to the holy.
50:2 And on the day of affliction, evil shall be stored up against sinners. But the righteous shall prevail in the name of the Lord of Spirits. And He shall reveal this to others, so that they may repent and abandon the works of their hands.
50:3 They shall have no honor before the Lord of Spirits, yet in His name they shall be saved. And the Lord of Spirits shall have mercy upon them, for His mercy is abundant.
50:4 And He is righteous in His judgment. Before His glory, unrighteousness shall not stand. Whoever does not repent shall perish in His judgment.
50:5 "And from this time onward I shall have no mercy upon them," says the Lord of Spirits.
51:1 And in those days the earth shall give back what has been entrusted to her, and Sheol shall give back what it has received, and destruction shall return what it owes.
51:2 And He shall choose the righteous and the holy from among them, for the day has drawn near when they shall be saved.
51:3 And in those days the Chosen One shall sit upon His throne, and all the mysteries of wisdom shall proceed from the thoughts of His mouth, because the Lord of Spirits has given them to Him and has glorified Him.
51:4 And in those days the mountains shall leap like rams, and the hills shall skip like lambs satisfied with milk. And all the angels in heaven shall rejoice.
51:5 Their faces shall shine with joy, because in those days the Chosen One has arisen. And the earth shall rejoice, and the righteous shall dwell upon it, and the chosen shall walk and move about upon it.
52:1 And after those days, in that place where I had seen all the hidden visions, I was carried away in a whirlwind, and they took me toward the west.
52:2 There my eyes saw the hidden things of heaven and all that shall come to pass upon the earth: A mountain of iron, a mountain of copper, a mountain of silver, a mountain of gold, a mountain of soft metal, and a mountain of lead.
52:3 And I asked the angel who accompanied me: "What are these things that I have seen in secret?"
52:4 And he said to me: "All these things that you have seen belong to the dominion of His Messiah, so that He may rule and be mighty upon the earth."
52:5 And the angel of peace answered me, saying: "Wait a little, and you shall see, and all the hidden things that the Lord of Spirits has established shall be revealed to you."
52:6 "And these mountains that you have seen; the mountain of iron, the mountain of copper, the mountain of silver, the mountain of gold, the mountain of soft metal, and the mountain of lead; All of them shall become like wax before the fire in the presence of the Chosen One, and like water flowing down from above upon those mountains. They shall become powerless before His feet."
52:7 "And in those days no one shall be saved by gold or by silver, nor shall anyone be able to escape."
52:8 "There shall be no iron for war, nor shall anyone put on a breastplate. Bronze shall be of no use, tin shall be of no value, and lead shall not be desired."
52:9 "All these things shall be rejected and shall perish from the face of the earth when the Chosen One appears before the Lord of Spirits."
53:1 And there my eyes saw a deep valley with its mouth wide open. All who dwell upon the dry land, the sea, and the islands shall bring gifts, offerings, and tribute to it, yet that deep valley shall not be filled.
53:2 They commit wrongdoing with their hands, and sinners consume everything they have gained through wrongdoing. But sinners shall perish from before the Lord of Spirits. They shall be driven from the face of His earth, and their destruction shall endure forever and ever.
53:3 For I saw the angels of punishment going forth and preparing all the instruments of Satan.
53:4 And I asked the angel of peace who accompanied me: "For whom are they preparing these instruments?"
53:5 And he said to me: "They are preparing them for the kings and the mighty of this earth, so that they may be destroyed by them."
53:6 "And after this, the Righteous and Chosen One shall reveal His house of assembly, and from that time onward they shall no longer be hindered, in the name of the Lord of Spirits."
53:7 "And these mountains shall become like level ground before Him, and the hills shall become like springs of water. Then the righteous shall have rest from the oppression of sinners."
54:1 And I looked and turned toward another part of the earth. There I saw a deep valley in which fire was burning.
54:2 And they brought the kings and the mighty and cast them into that deep valley.
54:3 And there my eyes saw that they were making instruments for them: iron chains of immeasurable weight.
54:4 And I asked the angel of peace who accompanied me: "For whom are these chains and instruments being prepared?"
54:5 And he said to me: "These are being prepared for the hosts of Azazel, so that they may be seized and cast into the lowest depths of condemnation. And rough stones shall cover their jaws, as the Lord of Spirits has commanded."
54:6 "Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Phanuel shall seize them on that great day and cast them into a furnace of blazing fire, so that the Lord of Spirits may take vengeance upon them for their unrighteousness. For they became servants of Satan and led astray those who dwell upon the dry land."
54:7 And in those days the punishment of the Lord of Spirits shall go forth. All the storehouses of waters above the heavens shall be opened, together with the fountains beneath the heavens and those beneath the earth.
54:8 And all the waters shall be joined with the waters above the heavens. The water above heaven is male, and the water beneath the earth is female.
54:9 And they shall destroy all who dwell upon the dry land and all who dwell beneath the ends of heaven.
54:10 And because of this, they shall recognize the unrighteousness they have committed upon the earth, and because of it they shall perish.
55:1 And after this, the Head of Days relented and said: "In vain have I destroyed all those who dwell upon the dry land."
55:2 And He swore by His great name: "From this time onward, I shall not again do this to all who dwell upon the dry land. And I shall set a sign in the heavens, and it shall stand as a pledge of faithfulness between Me and them forever, for as long as heaven remains above the earth."
55:3 "And this shall be according to My command. When I desire to seize them by the hands of the angels on the day of distress and suffering, My wrath and My punishment shall remain upon them." Thus says the Lord God, the Lord of Spirits.
55:4 "You mighty kings who dwell upon the dry land shall behold My Chosen One sitting upon the throne of My glory. And He shall judge Azazel, all his companions, and all his hosts in the name of the Lord of Spirits."
56:1 And there I saw the hosts of the angels of punishment going forth, holding chains of iron and bronze.
56:2 And I asked the angel of peace who accompanied me: "To whom are these going, carrying such things?"
56:3 And he said to me: "Each goes to his chosen and beloved ones, so that they may be cast into the deep abyss of the valley."
56:4 "And then that valley shall be filled with their chosen and beloved ones. The days of their lives shall come to an end, and the days of their leading others astray shall no longer be counted."
56:5 And in those days the angels shall assemble and turn their heads toward the east, toward the people of Parthia and Media. They shall stir up the kings, and a spirit of turmoil shall come upon them. They shall drive them from their thrones, and they shall come forth like lions from their dens and like hungry wolves among their flocks.
56:6 And they shall ascend and trample the land of His chosen ones. The land of His chosen ones shall become before them a place of trampling and a pathway.
56:7 And the city of My righteous ones shall become an obstacle for their horses. They shall begin to kill one another, and their own right hands shall prevail against them.
56:8 A man shall not recognize his companion or his brother, nor a son his father or his mother, until the number of their corpses becomes great through their death and punishment. And this shall not be in vain.
56:9 And in those days Sheol shall open its mouth, and they shall sink into it. Sheol shall swallow the sinners, destroying them from before the chosen ones.
57:1 And after this I saw another host of chariots, with people riding upon them. They came upon the wind from the east and from the west, toward the south.
57:2 And the sound of their chariots was heard. When this commotion took place, the holy ones in heaven became aware of it, and the pillars of the earth were shaken from their foundations. And the sound was heard from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven in a single day.
57:3 And they all fell down and worshiped the Lord of Spirits.
57:4 And this is the end of the second parable.
58:1 And I began to speak the third parable, concerning the righteous and the chosen.
58:2 Blessed are you, righteous and chosen ones, for glorious is your portion.
58:3 And the righteous shall dwell in the light of the sun, and the chosen in the light of eternal life. The days of their life shall have no end, and the days of the holy ones shall be without number.
58:4 They shall seek the light and find righteousness with the Lord of Spirits. Peace shall belong to the righteous in the presence of the Eternal Lord.
58:5 And after this, it shall be said to the holy ones that they should seek in heaven the hidden mysteries of righteousness and the portion of faithfulness. For it has risen like the sun upon the dry land, and darkness has passed away.
58:6 And there shall be a light that never comes to an end. They shall not enter into a numbered succession of days, for the darkness that was before has been destroyed.
58:7 And the light shall endure before the Lord of Spirits, and the light of righteousness shall remain forever before the Lord of Spirits.
59:1 And in those days my eyes saw the hidden mysteries of the lightning and the lights, and the ordinances governing them: how they flash forth for blessing and for a curse, according to the will of the Lord of Spirits.
59:2 And there I saw the hidden mysteries of thunder: how it resounds in the heights of heaven and its voice is heard. And the dwelling places of the dry land were shown to me, together with the voice of thunder, whether it sounds for peace and blessing or for a curse, according to the word of the Lord of Spirits.
59:3 And after this, all the hidden mysteries of the lights and the lightning were revealed to me: how they flash forth for blessing and abundance.
60:1 In the five-hundredth year, in the seventh month, on the fourteenth day of the month, during the life of Enoch, I saw in that vision how the heaven of heavens was shaken with a mighty shaking. The power of the Most High and the angels, thousands upon thousands and myriads upon myriads, were disturbed with a great commotion.
60:2 And then I saw the Head of Days seated upon the throne of His glory, and the angels and the righteous standing around Him.
60:3 And a great trembling seized me, and fear took hold of me. My body weakened and gave way, my whole being seemed to melt away, and I fell upon my face.
60:4 And holy Michael sent another holy angel, one of the holy angels, and he raised me up. When he raised me, my spirit returned, for I had been unable to endure the sight of that power, the commotion, and the shaking of heaven.
60:5 And holy Michael said to me: "Why are you so troubled by such a vision? Until this day, the day of His mercy has continued, and He has been merciful and slow to anger toward those who dwell upon the dry land.
60:6 But when the day comes; the day of power, punishment, and judgment which the Lord of Spirits has prepared for those who bow before the judgment of righteousness, for those who deny the judgment of righteousness, and for those who take His name in vain; that day has been prepared as a covenant for the chosen and an examination for sinners."
60:7 And on that day two beasts shall be separated: a female beast whose name is Leviathan, that she may dwell in the depths of the sea, above the springs of the waters.
60:8 And the male, whose name is Behemoth, occupies with his breast an unseen wilderness whose name is Dendain, to the east of the Garden, where the chosen and righteous dwell, where my ancestor was taken up, who was the seventh from Adam, the first of mankind whom the Lord of Spirits created.
60:9 And I asked that other angel to show me the power of these beasts, how they had been separated on one day, and one had been cast into the depths of the sea and the other onto the dry land of the wilderness.
60:10 And he said to me: "You son of man, here you desire to know what is hidden."
60:11 And another angel who accompanied me, who showed me what was hidden, revealed to me the first things and the last things: what is in the heights of heaven, what is in the depths of the dry land, what is at the ends of heaven, what is at the foundations of heaven, and what is in the storehouses of the winds.
60:12 And he showed me how the spirits are divided and how they are appointed, how the springs are numbered, and how the winds are governed by the power of the spirit. He showed me the power of the light of the moon, the power of righteousness, and the divisions of the stars according to their names, and how every division is apportioned.
60:13 And he showed me thunder according to its places of sounding, and all the divisions appointed for lightning, so that it might flash forth, and the hosts assigned to obey swiftly.
60:14 For thunder has places of rest, and patience has been given to its voice. Thunder and lightning are not separated, nor do they travel as one spirit without distinction; the two proceed together and are not divided.
60:15 For when lightning flashes, thunder gives forth its voice, and the spirit rests at that moment and divides equally between them. For the storehouse of their times is like sand, and each of them, at its appointed time, is restrained by a bridle and turned back by the power of the spirit. Thus it is driven forth according to the multitude of the regions of the earth.
60:16 And the spirit of the sea is male and mighty. According to the strength of its power, it draws the sea back with a bridle, and thus the sea is driven forth and scattered over all the mountains of the earth.
60:17 And the spirit of frost has its own angel, and the spirit of hail is a good angel.
60:18 And the spirit of snow has withdrawn because of its power, and there is a spirit within it alone. What rises from it is like smoke, and its name is Dadak.
60:19 And the spirit of mist is not joined with them in their storehouses, but has a storehouse of its own. For its course is in glory and in light, in darkness, in winter, and in summer. Its storehouse is light, and it has its angel.
60:20 And the spirit of dew has its dwelling at the ends of heaven, and it is joined with the storehouses of rain. Its course is in winter and in summer, and its clouds and the clouds of mist are joined together, and one gives to the other.
60:21 And when the spirit of rain moves out from its storehouse, the angels come and open the storehouse and bring it forth. And when it is scattered over all the dry land, it joins at all times with the water that is upon the dry land.
60:22 For the waters exist for those who dwell upon the dry land, because they are nourishment for the earth from the Most High who is in heaven. Therefore a measure has been appointed for the rain, and the angels bring it forth.
60:23 All these things I saw as far as the Garden of the Righteous.
60:24 And the angel of peace who was with me said: "These two beasts are prepared according to the greatness of God, that they may be fed and serve as an instrument of God's punishment, so that children shall be slain together with their mothers, and offspring together with their fathers.
60:25 When the punishment of the Lord of Spirits rests upon them, it shall remain until His punishment no longer comes upon them, after judgment has been accomplished through His mercy and patience."
61:1 And I saw in those days that long cords were given to those angels. They took wings for themselves and flew away, going toward the north.
61:2 And I asked the angel, saying: "Why have these angels taken long cords and gone away?" And he said to me: "They have gone to measure."
61:3 And the angel who accompanied me said: "These are the measures of the righteous, and they bring the bonds of the righteous, so that they may lean upon the name of the Lord of Spirits forever and ever.
61:4 The chosen shall begin to dwell with the chosen, and these measures shall be given to faithfulness, and they shall strengthen the word of righteousness.
61:5 And these measures shall reveal all the hidden things in the depths of the earth, and those who have perished in the wilderness, and those who have been devoured by the fish of the sea and by wild beasts. They shall return and be upheld on the day of the Chosen One, for none can perish before the Lord of Spirits, and none can cause another to perish from His sight."
61:6 And all those who are above the heavens received a command, and one power, one voice, and one light like fire were given to them.
61:7 And Him they blessed with their first words, and exalted and glorified Him with wisdom. They showed themselves wise in speech and in the spirit of life.
61:8 And the Lord of Spirits seated the Chosen One upon the throne of His glory. And He shall judge all the works of the holy ones in the heights of heaven, and their deeds shall be weighed in the balance.
61:9 And when He lifts up His face to judge their hidden ways according to the word of the name of the Lord of Spirits, and their paths according to the righteous judgment of the Most High God, they shall all speak with one voice. They shall bless, glorify, exalt, and praise the name of the Lord of Spirits.
61:10 And He shall summon all the hosts of heaven and all the holy ones above, and the host of God: the Cherubim, the Seraphim, the Ophanim, all the angels of power, all the angels of dominion, the Chosen One, and the other powers that are upon the dry land and over the waters.
61:11 On that day they shall lift up one voice, blessing, glorifying, praising, and exalting Him in the spirit of faithfulness, in the spirit of wisdom and patience, in the spirit of mercy, in the spirit of judgment and peace, and in the spirit of goodness. And they shall all say with one voice: "Blessed is He, and blessed be the name of the Lord of Spirits forever and ever."
61:12 All those who do not sleep in the heights of heaven shall bless Him. All His holy ones who are in heaven shall bless Him, and all the chosen who dwell in the Garden of Life. And every spirit of light that is able to bless, glorify, exalt, and sanctify Your holy name shall do so. And all flesh, beyond its strength, shall glorify and bless Your name forever and ever.
61:13 For great is the mercy of the Lord of Spirits, and He is slow to anger. All His works and all His power He has made according to measure, and He has revealed them to the righteous and the chosen in the name of the Lord of Spirits.
62:1 And thus the Lord commanded the kings, the powerful, the exalted, and those who dwell upon the earth, saying: "Open your eyes and lift up your horns, if you are able to recognize the Chosen One."
62:2 And the Lord of Spirits sat upon the throne of His glory, and the spirit of righteousness was poured out upon Him. And the word of His mouth shall slay all sinners and all the unrighteous, and they shall perish from before His face.
62:3 And on that day all the kings, the powerful, the exalted, and those who possess the dry land shall stand. They shall see and recognize Him, that He sits upon the throne of His glory, and that the righteous are judged in righteousness before Him, and no empty word can be spoken in His presence.
62:4 And pain shall come upon them like the pain of a woman in labor, when her child comes to the mouth of the womb and she suffers greatly in childbirth.
62:5 And one half of them shall look upon the other half in astonishment. They shall lower their faces, and pain shall seize them when they behold that Son of Woman sitting upon the throne of His glory.
62:6 And the kings, the powerful, and all those who possess the earth shall glorify, bless, and exalt Him who rules over all that is hidden.
62:7 For from the beginning the Son of Humankind was hidden, and the Most High preserved Him in the presence of His power and revealed Him to the chosen.
62:8 And the assembly of the holy and the chosen shall be gathered, and all the chosen shall stand before Him on that day.
62:9 And all the kings, the powerful, the exalted, and those who rule the dry land shall fall upon their faces before Him. They shall worship and place their hope in that Son of Humankind, and they shall entreat Him and ask mercy from Him.
62:10 But the Lord of Spirits shall then press them to hasten and depart from before His face. Their faces shall be filled with shame, and darkness shall grow deeper upon their faces.
62:11 And the angels of punishment shall receive them, so that vengeance may be taken upon them for having oppressed His children and His chosen ones.
62:12 And they shall become a spectacle for the righteous and His chosen ones. The righteous shall rejoice over them, because the wrath of the Lord of Spirits rests upon them, and the sword of the Lord of Spirits is made drunk with their blood.
62:13 And the righteous and the chosen shall be saved on that day. From that time onward they shall no longer behold the faces of sinners and the unrighteous.
62:14 And the Lord of Spirits shall dwell over them, and with that Son of Humankind they shall dwell, eat, lie down, and rise up forever and ever.
62:15 And the righteous and the chosen shall rise from the earth. They shall cease to lower their faces, and they shall be clothed with garments of life.
62:16 And this shall be the garment of life from the Lord of Spirits. Your garments shall not grow old, and your glory shall not come to an end before the Lord of Spirits.
63:1 In those days, the kings and the powerful who possess the dry land shall plead with the angels of His punishment, wherever they have been delivered, that they might grant them a little rest, so that they may fall down and worship before the Lord of Spirits and confess their sins before Him.
63:2 And they shall bless and glorify the Lord of Spirits, saying: "Blessed is the Lord of Spirits, the Lord of kings, the Lord of the powerful, the Lord of the wealthy, the Lord of glory, and the Lord of wisdom, who brings to light everything that is hidden.
63:3 Your power endures from generation to generation, and Your glory forever and ever. All Your mysteries are deep and without number, and Your righteousness is beyond reckoning.
63:4 Now we know that we should glorify and bless the Lord of kings, Him who reigns over all kings."
63:5 And they shall say: "Who will grant us rest, that we may glorify Him, give Him thanks, bless Him, and confess before His glory?
63:6 Even now we long for a little rest, but we do not find it. We are driven away and cannot obtain it. The light has passed away from before us, and darkness is our dwelling forever and ever.
63:7 For we did not believe before Him, nor did we glorify the name of the Lord of kings. We did not glorify the Lord in all His works, but our hope was in the scepter of our kingdom and in our own glory.
63:8 And on the day of our distress and suffering, He does not save us, and we find no rest. We confess that our Lord is faithful in all His works, in all His judgments, and in His righteousness; and His judgments show no partiality.
63:9 We shall pass away from before His face because of our deeds, and all our sins have been counted in righteousness."
63:10 Now they shall say: "Our souls are filled with the wealth of unrighteousness, yet it cannot prevent our descent into the flames of the depths of Sheol."
63:11 And after this, their faces shall be filled with darkness and shame before that Son of Humankind. They shall be driven away from His presence, and a sword shall remain before His face among them.
63:12 And thus the Lord of Spirits said: "This is the appointed order and judgment of the powerful, the kings, the exalted, and those who possess the dry land before the Lord of Spirits."
64:1 And I saw other hidden forms in that place.
64:2 I heard the voice of an angel saying: "These are the angels who descended from heaven to the earth, who revealed what was hidden to the children of humanity and led the children of humanity astray, so that they committed sin."
65:1 And in those days Noah saw that the earth had sunk down and that its destruction was near.
65:2 And he lifted his feet from that place and went to the ends of the earth. He cried out to his ancestor Enoch. And Noah said with a bitter voice: "Hear me! Hear me! Hear me!" Three times he cried out.
65:3 And he said to him: "Tell me, what is happening upon the earth? Why has the earth become so troubled and shaken? Perhaps I shall perish together with it."
65:4 And after that, a great disturbance came upon the earth, and a voice was heard from heaven, and I fell upon my face.
65:5 And Enoch, my ancestor, came and stood beside me. He said to me: "Why have you cried out to me with such a bitter cry and weeping?"
65:6 "A command has gone forth from the presence of the Lord concerning those who dwell upon the dry land, that their destruction should come. For they have learned all the hidden things of the angels, all the violence of the satans, all their secret powers, and all the powers of those who practice sorcery, the powers of enchantments, and the powers of those who cast molten images throughout the earth.
65:7 And they have learned how silver is produced from the dust of the earth and how the spotted metal comes to be upon the earth.
65:8 For lead and tin are not produced from the earth in the same way as the first; there is a spring that produces them, and an angel stands within it. That angel is distinguished."
65:9 And after this, my ancestor Enoch took me by his hand and raised me up. He said to me: "Go, for I have asked the Lord of Spirits concerning this disturbance upon the earth."
65:10 And he said to me: "Because of their unrighteousness, their judgment has been completed, and it shall not be withheld before Me. Because of the months they have sought out, they have learned that the earth and those who dwell upon it shall be destroyed.
65:11 And for these there shall be no return forever, because they have revealed what was hidden, and they have been judged. But as for you, my son, the Lord of Spirits knows that you are pure and good, free from this reproach concerning the hidden things.
65:12 And He has established your name among the holy ones and will preserve you from those who dwell upon the dry land. He will establish your offspring in righteousness, for kingship and great glory. And from your offspring shall come forth a spring of righteous and holy ones, and they shall be without number forever."
66:1 And after this, he showed me the angels of punishment, who were ready to come and release all the power of the waters beneath the earth, so that they might bring judgment and destruction upon all who live and dwell upon the dry land.
66:2 And the Lord of Spirits commanded the angels who were going forth not to raise their hands, but to hold back, for those angels were set over the power of the waters.
66:3 And I went away from the presence of Enoch.
67:1 And in those days the word of God came to me, saying: "Noah, behold, your portion has ascended before Me, a portion without reproach, a portion of love and uprightness.
67:2 And now the angels are making a wooden structure. When they have completed that task, I shall place My hand upon it and preserve it. From it shall come forth the seed of life, and a change shall take place, so that the dry land shall not remain empty.
67:3 And I shall establish your offspring before Me forever and ever, and I shall spread abroad those who dwell with you upon the face of the dry land. They shall be blessed and shall multiply upon the dry land in the name of the Lord."
67:4 "And those angels who revealed unrighteousness shall be shut up in that burning valley which my ancestor Enoch formerly showed me in the west, near the mountains of gold, silver, iron, spotted metal, and lead."
67:5 And I saw that valley, in which there was a great disturbance, and the waters were troubled.
67:6 And when all this had taken place, from that fiery spotted metal and from the disturbance that shook them in that place, a smell of sulfur arose and mingled with those waters. And that valley, where the angels who led others astray were held, burned beneath the earth.
67:7 And from its valleys rivers of fire came forth, where those angels who led astray the inhabitants of the dry land were judged.
67:8 And in those days those waters shall be for the kings, the powerful, the exalted, and those who dwell upon the dry land, for the healing of soul and body, but for the judgment of the spirit. Their spirits shall be filled with desire, so that their bodies may be judged, because they denied the Lord of Spirits, although they saw their judgment every day and did not believe in His name.
67:9 And as the burning of their bodies increases, so shall a change come upon their spirits forever and ever, for no one may speak an empty word before the Lord of Spirits.
67:10 For judgment shall come upon them, because they trusted in the desire of their bodies and denied the Spirit of the Lord.
67:11 And those same waters shall undergo a change in those days. For when those angels are judged in those days, the heat of those springs of water shall change. And when the angels ascend, the water of those springs shall change and become cold.
67:12 And I heard holy Michael answering and saying: "This judgment with which the angels are judged is a testimony against the kings, the powerful, and those who possess the dry land.
67:13 For these waters of judgment are for the healing of their bodies, but for the death of their flesh. Yet they do not see, nor do they believe, that these waters shall change and become a burning fire forever."
68:1 And after this, my ancestor Enoch gave me, in a book, the signs of all the hidden things and the parables that had been given to him. He gathered them together for me in the words of the Book of Parables.
68:2 And on that day holy Michael answered Raphael, saying: "The power of the spirit overwhelms me and makes me tremble because of the severity of the judgment, the hidden judgment of the angels. Who is able to endure the severity of this judgment, which has been carried out and remains, before which they are consumed?"
68:3 And holy Michael spoke again to Raphael, saying: "Whose heart would not be softened by this, and whose inward being would not be troubled by these words? Judgment has gone forth against them because of those whom they brought out into such a condition."
68:4 And when he stood before the Lord of Spirits, holy Michael said this to Raphael: "They shall not be permitted to remain in the sight of the Lord, for the Lord of Spirits is angry with them, because they acted as though they were the Lord.
68:5 Therefore a hidden judgment shall come upon them forever and ever. Neither angel nor human being shall receive their portion. They alone shall receive their judgment forever and ever."
69:1 And after this judgment, they shall be terrified and made to tremble because of what they revealed to those who dwell upon the dry land.
69:2 And behold, these are the names of those angels: The first of them was Semyaza; the second, Arstiqifa; the third, Armen; the fourth, Kekabael; the fifth, Turiel; the sixth, Rumyal; the seventh, Daniel; the eighth, Nuqael; the ninth, Baraqel; the tenth, Azazel; the eleventh, Armers; the twelfth, Betaryal; the thirteenth, Besasael; the fourteenth, Ananel; the fifteenth, Turyal; the seventeenth, Simapisiel; the seventeenth, Yeterel; the eighteenth, Tumael; the nineteenth, Terel; the twentieth, Rumael; and the twenty-first, Izezeel.
69:3 These were the chiefs of their angels, and their names were those of the leaders over hundreds, over fifties, and over tens.
69:4 The name of the first was Yeqon. He was the one who led astray all the children of the holy angels, brought them down upon the dry land, and caused them to go astray through the daughters of humanity.
69:5 And the name of the second was Asbeel. He taught evil counsel to the children of the holy angels and led them astray, so that they corrupted their bodies with the daughters of humanity.
69:6 And the name of the third was Gadriel. He was the one who showed the children of humanity all the blows that bring death. He led Eve astray, and he showed the children of humanity the instruments of death: the coat of armor, the shield, the sword for killing, and every instrument of death.
69:7 And from his hand these things came forth among those who dwell upon the dry land, from that time and forever.
69:8 And the name of the fourth was Penemue. He showed the children of humanity bitterness and sweetness, and he revealed to them all the hidden things of their wisdom.
69:9 He taught human beings writing with ink and paper. Because of this, many have gone astray from age to age, even to this day.
69:10 For human beings were not born for this purpose, that they should establish their faith by means of pen and ink.
69:11 For human beings were not created differently from the angels, but so that they might remain righteous and pure. And death, which destroys everything, would not have touched them. But through this knowledge of theirs they perish, and through this power it consumes me.
69:12 And the name of the fifth was Kesdeya. He showed the children of humanity all the evil blows of spirits and demons, and the blows that strike the unborn child in the womb so that it falls, and the blows against the soul, the bite of the serpent, and the blow that comes at midday through the serpent's offspring, whose name is Tabaet.
69:13 And this is the number of Kesbeel, the chief of the oath, who revealed it to the holy ones when the Most High dwelt in glory. And its name was Beqa.
69:14 And he told holy Michael to show them the hidden name, so that they might see that secret name and remember it in the oath, and so that those who revealed all hidden things to the children of humanity might tremble before that name and oath.
69:15 And this is the power of that oath, for it is mighty and strong. And He placed this oath, Akae, in the hand of holy Michael.
69:16 And these are the mysteries of that oath, and they were established by His oath. By it heaven was suspended before the world was created, and so it shall remain forever.
69:17 And by it the earth was founded upon the water, and from the hidden places of the mountains beautiful waters come forth for the living, from the creation of the world and forever.
69:18 And by that oath the sea was created, and at the time of its fury He appointed sand as its foundation and boundary, so that it should not pass beyond it, from the creation of the world and forever.
69:19 And by that oath the depths were made firm and stood in their places, and they do not depart from their stations, from age to age.
69:20 And by that oath the sun and the moon complete their courses and do not depart from their appointed commands, from age to age.
69:21 And by that oath the stars complete their courses. He calls them by their names, and they answer Him, from age to age.
69:22 And so also the waters, the spirits of the winds, all the spirits, and their pathways, according to every division of the spirits.
69:23 And there are kept the storehouses of the voice of thunder and the light of lightning. There also are kept the storehouses of hail and frost, the storehouses of mist, and the storehouses of rain and dew.
69:24 And all these believe and give thanks before the Lord of Spirits. They glorify Him with all their strength, and their sustenance is in thanksgiving. They give thanks, glorify, and exalt the name of the Lord of Spirits forever and ever.
69:25 And over them this oath is made firm. Through it they are preserved, their pathways are guarded, and their courses are not corrupted.
69:26 And there was great joy among them. They blessed, glorified, and exalted Him because the name of that Son of Humankind had been revealed to them.
69:27 And He sat upon the throne of His glory, and the beginning of judgment was given to the Son of Humankind. He shall cause sinners to pass away and shall destroy them from the face of the earth, together with those who have led the world astray.
69:28 They shall be bound with chains, and in their assembly of corruption they shall be shut up, and all their works shall pass away from the face of the earth.
69:29 And from that time onward there shall be nothing that corrupts, for that Son of Man has appeared and has sat upon the throne of His glory. All evil shall pass away and depart from before His face, and the word of that Son of Man shall be established before the Lord of Spirits.
69:30 This is the third parable of Enoch.
70:1 And after this, his living name was raised up from among those who dwell upon the dry land, to that Son of Humankind and to the Lord of Spirits.
70:2 And he was raised up in the chariots of the spirit, and his name went forth from among them.
70:3 And from that day I was no longer drawn among them. He placed me between two regions, between the north and the west, where the angels took cords to measure for me a place for the chosen and the righteous.
70:4 And there I saw the first fathers and the righteous who had dwelt in that place from the beginning of the world.
71:1 And after this, my spirit was hidden away and ascended into the heavens. I saw the children of the angels walking upon flames of fire. Their garments were white, and their clothing also, and the light of their faces was like snow.
71:2 And I saw two rivers of fire, and the light of that fire shone like the hyacinth. And I fell upon my face before the Lord of Spirits.
71:3 And Michael, one of the chief angels, took me by my right hand, raised me up, and brought me out to all the hidden mysteries of mercy and the hidden mysteries of righteousness.
71:4 He showed me all the mysteries of the ends of heaven and all the storehouses of the stars and the heavenly lights, and the places from which they go forth before the holy ones.
71:5 And the spirit carried Enoch into the heaven of heavens. There I saw, in the midst of that light, something built of crystal stones, and among those stones were tongues of living fire.
71:6 And my spirit saw a circle surrounding that house of fire. From its four extremities were rivers filled with living fire, and they encircled that house.
71:7 And around it were the Seraphim, the Cherubim, and the Ophanim. These are the ones who do not sleep, and they guard the throne of His glory.
71:8 And I saw angels without number, thousands upon thousands and myriads upon myriads, surrounding that house. And Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, and Phanuel, together with the holy angels who are above the heavens, went in and out of that house.
71:9 And from that house came Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Phanuel, and many holy angels without number.
71:10 And with them was the Head of Days. His head was like white and pure wool, and His garment was beyond description.
71:11 And I fell upon my face, and all my flesh melted away, and my spirit was transformed. And I cried out with a loud voice in the spirit of power, and I blessed, glorified, and exalted Him.
71:12 And the blessings that came forth from my mouth were pleasing before that Head of Days.
71:13 And that Head of Days came with Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Phanuel, and with thousands and myriads upon myriads of angels without number.
71:14 And that angel came to me, greeted me with his voice, and said to me: "You are the Son of Man who was born for righteousness. Righteousness has dwelt upon you, and the righteousness of the Head of Days shall not forsake you.
71:15 And he said to me: "He proclaims peace to you in the name of the world that is to come, for from there peace has gone forth since the creation of the world, and so it shall be for you forever and ever.
71:16 And all who shall come and walk in your way, righteousness never forsaking you, shall have their dwelling with you and their portion with you. They shall not be separated from you forever and ever.
71:17 And thus there shall be length of days with that Son of Humankind, and peace shall belong to the righteous, and the way of the righteous shall be upright in the name of the Lord of Spirits forever and ever."
72:1 The Book of the Courses of the Heavenly Lights: how each exists according to its company, according to its authority, according to its appointed season, according to its name, its rising, and its months. These things Uriel, the holy angel who was with me and who guides them, showed me. He showed me their entire account, just as they are, and how they shall be through all the years of the world, until a new creation is made that shall endure forever.
72:2 And this is the first ordinance of the heavenly lights. The sun, the light whose rising is through the gates of heaven toward the east, and whose setting is through the western gates of heaven.
72:3 And I saw six gates from which the sun rises and six gates through which the sun sets. The moon also rises and sets through those gates, and the leaders of the stars are with those who guide them. There are six gates in the east and six in the west, each one following another in proper order, and many windows to the right and left of those gates.
72:4 And first the great light comes forth, whose name is the sun. Its circumference is like the circumference of heaven, and its whole body is filled with fire that gives light and heat.
72:5 The wind blows the chariots upon which it ascends. The sun sets from heaven and returns by way of the north to travel toward the east, and it is guided so that it enters that gate and shines upon the face of heaven.
72:6 Thus, in the first month, it rises through the great gate, which is the fourth of the six gates toward the east of the sun.
72:7 And in that fourth gate, from which the sun rises in the first month, there are twelve open windows, from which flames come forth when they are opened at their appointed times.
72:8 When the sun rises from heaven, it comes forth through that fourth gate for thirty mornings, and it descends directly through the fourth gate in the west of heaven.
72:9 And in those days the day grows longer from day to day, and the night grows shorter from night to night, until thirty mornings have passed.
72:10 And on that day, the day is longer than the night by two parts. The day becomes exactly ten parts, and the night eight parts.
72:11 And the sun rises from that fourth gate and sets through the fourth gate. Then it returns to the fifth gate in the east for thirty mornings, rises from it, and sets through the fifth gate.
72:12 Then the day grows longer by two portions, and the day becomes eleven parts, while the night grows shorter and becomes seven parts.
72:13 And the sun returns toward the east and enters the sixth gate. It rises and sets through the sixth gate for thirty-one mornings, according to its appointed sign.
72:14 And on that day the day is twice as long as the night. The day becomes twelve parts, and the night grows shorter and becomes six parts.
72:15 And the sun begins to make the day shorter and the night longer. The sun returns toward the east, enters the sixth gate, and rises and sets from it for thirty mornings.
72:16 And when thirty mornings have been completed, the day is shortened by exactly one part. The day becomes eleven parts, and the night seven parts.
72:17 And the sun goes out from that sixth gate in the west, travels toward the east, and rises through the fifth gate for thirty mornings. It sets again in the west through the fifth gate.
72:18 On that day the day is shortened by two parts, and the day becomes ten parts, and the night eight parts.
72:19 And the sun rises from that fifth gate and sets through the fifth gate in the west. Then it rises through the fourth gate, according to its appointed sign, for thirty-one mornings, and sets in the west.
72:20 On that day, the day becomes equal to the night. They are equal, and the night is nine parts and the day nine parts.
72:21 And the sun rises from that gate and sets in the west. It returns toward the east and comes forth through the third gate for thirty mornings, setting in the west through the third gate.
72:22 And in those days the night grows longer than the day until thirty mornings have passed, and the day grows shorter from day to day until thirty days have passed. The night becomes exactly ten parts, and the day eight parts.
72:23 And the sun rises through that third gate and sets through the third gate in the west. It returns toward the east, and the sun rises through the second eastern gate for thirty mornings, and likewise sets through the second gate in the west of heaven.
72:24 And on that day the night becomes eleven parts, and the day seven parts.
72:25 And on that day the sun rises through that second gate and sets in the west through the second gate. It returns toward the east to the first gate for thirty-one mornings and sets in the west through the first gate.
72:26 And on that day the night grows longer and becomes twice as long as the day. The night becomes exactly twelve parts, and the day six parts.
72:27 And the sun completes its divisions and turns again through these divisions. It enters that gate for thirty mornings and sets opposite it in the west.
72:28 And on that day the night is shortened from its length by one portion, that is, one part. The night becomes eleven parts, and the day seven parts.
72:29 And the sun returns and enters the second gate in the east. It returns through that division for thirty mornings, rising and setting.
72:30 And on that day the night is shortened from its length, and the night becomes ten parts, and the day eight parts.
72:31 And on that day the sun rises through the second gate and sets in the west. It returns toward the east and rises through the third gate for thirty-one mornings, and sets in the west of heaven.
72:32 And on that day the night is shortened and becomes nine parts, and the day becomes nine parts. The night becomes equal to the day, and the year has exactly three hundred and sixty-four days.
72:33 And the length of the day and the night, and the shortening of the day and the night, are distinguished by the course of the sun.
72:34 Because of it, its course becomes longer from day to day, and the night becomes shorter from night to night.
72:35 And this is the ordinance and the course of the sun, and its return when it returns. Sixty times it returns and comes forth, this great light which exists forever and is called the sun forever and ever.
72:36 And this is the great light that comes forth, which is named according to its appearance, as the Lord commanded.
72:37 And thus it rises and sets, neither diminishing nor resting, but running by day and by night in its chariot. And its light shines seven times more brightly than that of the moon, although the measures of the two are equal.
73:1 After this ordinance, I saw another ordinance concerning the lesser light, whose name is the Moon.
73:2 Its circumference is like the circumference of heaven, and the chariot upon which it is carried is driven by the wind. Light is given to it according to measure.
73:3 In every month its rising and setting change, and its days are like the days of the sun. When its light becomes complete, its light is one-seventh of the light of the sun, and thus it rises.
73:4 At its beginning, it rises toward the east on the thirtieth morning. On that day it appears, and for you it marks the beginning of the month, on the thirtieth morning, together with the sun, at the gate through which the sun rises.
73:5 One half of it is distant by a seventh part, and its whole circumference is without light, except for a seventh part of its fourteen portions of light.
73:6 On a certain day it receives a seventh part, and half of its light becomes seven and seven portions. One half of it sets together with the sun.
73:7 When the sun rises, the moon rises with it and receives half a portion of light. On that night, at the beginning of its morning, before the day of the moon, the moon sets with the sun and becomes dark on that night by seven and seven portions and a half.
73:8 On that day it rises with a complete seventh part, comes forth, and withdraws from the rising of the sun. During the remainder of its days, it shines by seven and seven portions.
74:1 I saw another course and ordinance for the moon, according to which it completes its monthly journey.
74:2 Uriel, the holy angel who guides them all, showed me everything. I wrote down their stations as he showed them to me, and I wrote down their months as they occur. I observed their light until fifteen days were completed.
74:3 In seven portions it completes all its light in the east, and in seven portions it completes all its darkness in the west.
74:4 In certain months it changes its settings, and in certain months it follows its course separately.
74:5 For two months it sets with the sun through the two middle gates, the third and the fourth gates.
74:6 It comes forth for seven days, makes its circuit, and returns again through the gate from which the sun rises. There it completes all its light, withdraws from the sun, and enters for seven days through the sixth gate, from which the sun rises.
74:7 When the sun comes forth from the fourth gate, the moon comes forth for seven days, until it comes forth from the fifth. Again it returns for seven days to the fourth gate, completes all its light, grows dark, and enters the first gate for seven days.
74:8 Again it returns for seven days to the fourth gate, from which the sun rises.
74:9 Thus I saw their stations, according to the order of their months, as the sun rises and sets.
74:10 In those days, over five years, thirty days are added to the sun. All the days belonging to it in one year, when those five years are completed, amount to three hundred and sixty-four days.
74:11 The additional days belonging to the sun and the stars amount to six days in five years. Each year contributes six days, making thirty days; and the moon falls behind the sun and the stars by thirty days.
74:12 The moon brings all the years to completion according to their appointed stations. They neither advance nor fall behind by a single day, but complete the years in righteousness, precisely according to three hundred and sixty-four days.
74:13 For three years there are one thousand and ninety-two days; for five years there are one thousand eight hundred and twenty days; and for eight years there are two thousand nine hundred and twelve days.
74:14 For the moon alone, its days in three years amount to one thousand and sixty-two days. In five years it falls short by fifty days, for additional days are reckoned in its course.
74:15 Thus, for five years, its days amount to one thousand seven hundred and seventy days, and for eight years the days of the moon amount to two thousand eight hundred and thirty-two days.
74:16 For its deficiency over eight years is eighty days, and all the days by which it falls short in eight years are eighty.
74:17 The year is completed in righteousness according to their stations and the stations of the sun, which rises through the gates from which it comes forth and sets for thirty days.
75:1 The leaders of the chiefs of thousands are appointed over all creation and over all the stars, together with the four days that are added and do not depart from their stations according to the whole reckoning of the year.
75:2 These serve during the four days that are not counted in the ordinary reckoning of the year.
75:3 Because of them, people go astray in their reckoning, for these lights faithfully fulfill their service in the stations of the world: one at the first gate, one at the third gate, one at the fourth gate, and one at the sixth gate. Thus the exact order of the world is completed in three hundred and sixty-four stations.
75:4 For Uriel, the angel whom the Lord of Glory has appointed over all the lights of heaven, showed me the signs, the seasons, the years, and the days.
75:5 These lights have their appointed service in heaven and in the world, so that they may rule in the face of heaven, appear upon the earth, and govern day and night: the sun, the moon, the stars, and all the ministering powers that revolve in the chariots of heaven.
75:6 Thus Uriel showed me twelve open gates in the circuit of the sun's chariot in heaven. Through them the rays of the sun come forth, and from them heat proceeds upon the earth when they are opened at their appointed seasons.
75:7 There are also gates for the winds and for the spirit of dew, when they are opened at their seasons in heaven, at the ends of the earth.
75:8 I saw twelve gates in heaven at the ends of the earth, through which the sun, the moon, the stars, and all the works of heaven come forth from the east and from the west.
75:9 There are many open windows to their right and to their left. One window, in its appointed season, produces heat, just as the gates through which the stars come forth according to their command, and through which they set according to their number.
75:10 I saw chariots in heaven running through the world, above and below those gates, in which the stars that never set revolve.
75:11 One among them is greater than all the others, and it makes its circuit around the whole world.
76:1 At the ends of the earth I saw twelve open gates for all the winds. From them the winds come forth and blow upon the earth.
76:2 Three of them are open toward the face of heaven, three toward the west, three toward the right of heaven, and three toward the left.
76:3 Three are toward the east, three toward the south, three behind toward the north, and three toward the west.
76:4 From four of them come winds of blessing and peace. From the other eight come winds of destruction. When these are sent forth, they destroy the whole earth, the waters upon it, all who dwell upon it, and everything in the waters and upon the dry land.
76:5 The first wind comes forth from the first of these gates, called the Eastern Wind, from the gate toward the east that inclines toward the south. From it come destruction, heat, and ruin.
76:6 From the second gate, the middle one, comes what is fitting and good. From it come rain, fruitfulness, peace, and dew. From the third gate, toward the south, come cold and dryness.
76:7 After these come the winds toward the south, through three gates. From the first gate, which inclines toward the east, comes a hot wind.
76:8 From the middle gate come a pleasant fragrance, dew, rain, peace, and life.
76:9 From the third gate, toward the west, come dew, rain, locusts, and destruction.
76:10 After these are the winds toward the north, whose name is the Sea. From the seventh gate, toward the east and inclining toward the south, come dew, rain, locusts, and destruction.
76:11 From the middle gate, which is straight ahead, come rain, dew, life, and peace.
76:12 From the third gate, toward the west and inclining toward the north, come mist, frost, snow, rain, dew, and locusts.
76:13 After these are the winds toward the west. From the first gate, which inclines toward the north, come dew, rain, frost, cold, snow, and freezing.
76:14 From the middle gate come dew, rain, peace, and blessing.
76:15 From the last gate, toward the south, come dryness, destruction, heat, and ruin.
76:16 Thus the twelve gates of the four quarters of heaven are completed. I have shown you all their ordinances, all their destructive powers, and all their peace, my son Methuselah.
77:1 They call the first wind the Eastern Wind, because it is the first. They call the second the Southern Wind, because the Most High descends there, and especially there the Blessed One descends upon the world.
77:2 The wind from the west is named Ntug, because there all the lights of heaven diminish and descend.
77:3 The fourth wind, whose name is the Northern Wind, is divided into three parts. One part is a dwelling place for humankind.
77:4 Another is for the seas of water, the lakes, the forests, the rivers, the darkness, and the mist. The third part contains the Garden of Righteousness.
77:5 I saw seven lofty mountains, higher than all the mountains upon the earth. From them frost comes forth, and days, seasons, and years pass and proceed.
77:6 I saw seven great rivers upon the earth, greater than all other rivers. One of them comes from the west and pours its waters into the Great Sea.
77:7 Two of them come from the north toward the sea and pour their waters into the Erythraean Sea in the east.
77:8 The remaining four come forth along the side of the north toward their own sea, the Erythraean Sea. Two of them empty into the Great Sea, and there they are said to flow into a wilderness.
77:9 I saw seven great islands in the sea and upon the earth: two upon the earth and five in the Great Sea.
78:1 These are the names of the sun: the first is Oryares, and the second is Tomas.
78:2 And the moon has four names. Its first name is Asonya, the second Ebla, the third Benase, and the fourth Era.
78:3 These are the two great lights. Their circuits are like the circuit of heaven, and the measurements of the two are equal.
78:4 In the circuit of the sun there are seven portions of light, which are added to it from the moon; and according to a fixed measure they are apportioned until a seventh portion of the sun has passed.
78:5 They set and enter the gates of the west, and they make their circuit toward the south; and through the eastern gates they come forth upon the face of heaven.
78:6 When the moon rises and appears in heaven, half of a seventh portion of light is in it; and on the fourteenth day it completes all its light.
78:7 And three fifths of light are placed within it, until on the fifteenth day its light is completed, as a sign of the year. Thus it becomes three fifths, and the moon possesses half of a seventh portion.
78:8 In its waning, on the first day, fourteen portions of its light are diminished; on the second, thirteen portions; on the third, twelve; on the fourth, eleven; on the fifth, ten; on the sixth, nine; on the seventh, eight; on the eighth, seven; on the ninth, six; on the tenth, five; on the eleventh, four; on the twelfth, three; on the thirteenth, two; and on the fourteenth, half of a seventh portion. On the fifteenth day, all the light that remains is spent.
78:9 In certain months the moon has twenty-nine days, and at other times twenty-eight.
78:10 Uriel showed me another ordinance concerning how light is placed within the moon, and from where it is apportioned to it from the sun.
78:11 Throughout the time in which the moon travels with its light, it receives light before the sun, until, after fourteen days, its light is completed in heaven. And when it is fully illuminated, its light is complete in heaven.
78:12 The first day is called the new moon, because on that day light begins to rise upon it.
78:13 Its completion takes place on the day when the sun descends into the west, while the moon rises from the east at night and shines throughout the night, until the sun rises before it and the moon appears before the sun.
78:14 From the place where the moon's light comes forth, there also it begins to diminish, until all its light is exhausted. The days of the month pass, and its circuit remains without light.
78:15 For three months it completes thirty days in its appointed time, and for three months it completes twenty-nine days each. In these it accomplishes its diminution during its first period, at the first gate, in one hundred and seventy-seven days.
78:16 During the period of its rising, for three months it appears for thirty days each, and for three months it appears for twenty-nine days each.
78:17 By night it appears for twenty days like a man, and by day like heaven; for there is nothing else in it except its light.
79:1 And now, my son Methuselah, I have shown you everything, and the whole ordinance of the stars of heaven has been completed.
79:2 He showed me all their ordinances: those concerning every day, every appointed season, every dominion, every year, their rising, and their prescribed order in every month and every Sabbath.
79:3 He also showed me the diminution of the moon that takes place at the sixth gate; for at this sixth gate its light is completed, and from it comes the beginning of the month.
79:4 And he showed me the diminution that takes place at the first gate, in its appointed season, until one hundred and seventy-seven days are completed, and according to the order of the weeks, twenty-five weeks and two days.
79:5 He showed me how the moon falls short of the sun and of the ordinance of the stars by five days in one appointed period, when this place that you see is completed.
79:6 Such was the appearance and likeness of every light that Uriel, the great angel who guides them, showed me.
80:1 In those days Uriel answered me and said: “Behold, I have shown you everything, O Enoch, and have revealed everything to you, so that you may see this sun and this moon, those who guide the stars of heaven, and all those who turn them according to their works, their seasons, and their risings.
80:2 “But in the days of sinners, the rainy seasons shall be shortened, and their seed shall be late in their lands and fields. Every work upon the earth shall be changed and shall not appear in its appointed season. Rain shall be withheld, and heaven shall stand still.
80:3 “In those times the fruit of the earth shall be late and shall not grow in its appointed season, and the fruit of the trees shall be withheld at its proper time.
80:4 “The moon shall change its ordinance and shall not appear at its appointed time.
80:5 “In those days heaven shall be seen, and barrenness shall come upon the extremity of the great heavenly circuits in the west; and it shall shine more brightly than the ordained order of light.
80:6 “Many of the chiefs of the stars shall transgress their appointed ordinance. They shall change their paths and their works, and shall not appear at the seasons commanded for them.
80:7 “The whole ordinance of the stars shall be closed against sinners. The thoughts of those who dwell upon the earth shall go astray concerning them; they shall turn aside from all their ways, go astray, and regard them as gods.
80:8 “Evil shall multiply against them, and punishment shall come upon them to destroy them all.”
81:1 And he said to me: “O Enoch, look upon the book of the tablets of heaven, read what is written upon them, and understand everything, each matter in its own place.”
81:2 So I looked upon all the tablets of heaven, and I read everything that was written. I understood everything, and I read the book and all that was written within it: all the deeds of humanity and of all the children of flesh upon the earth, throughout the generations of the world.
81:3 Then I blessed the Lord, the King of eternal glory, because He had made all the works of the world. I praised the Lord for His patience and blessed Him on behalf of the children of the world.
81:4 At that time I said: “Blessed is the man who dies righteous and good, against whom no book of wrongdoing has been written, and in whom no error has been found.”
81:5 Then those three holy ones brought me down and set me upon the earth before the door of my house.
81:6 They said to me: “Make everything known to Methuselah your son, and show all your children that no flesh is righteous before the Lord, for He is their Creator.
81:7 “For one year we shall leave you among your children, until you give further instruction, teach your children, write for them, and bear witness to all your children. But in another year you shall be taken from among them.
81:8 “Let your heart be strong, for the good shall make righteousness known to the good; the righteous shall rejoice with the righteous, and they shall greet one another.
81:9 “But the sinner shall die with the sinner, and the apostate shall sink with the apostate.
81:10 “Those who practice righteousness shall die because of the deeds of humanity, and shall be gathered away because of the deeds of the wicked.”
81:11 In those days they finished speaking with me, and I returned to my people, blessing the Lord of the worlds.
82:1 And now, my son Methuselah, I shall tell you all these things and write them down for you. I have revealed everything to you and have given you the books concerning all these matters. Keep, my son Methuselah, the books written by your father's hand, so that they may be given to the generations of the world.
82:2 I have given wisdom to you, to your children, and to those who shall be your descendants, so that they may give this wisdom, which is in their minds, to their children throughout all generations forever.
82:3 Those who understand it shall not sleep, but shall incline their ears to learn this wisdom; and it shall be more pleasing to those who partake of it than good food is to those who eat.
82:4 Blessed are all the righteous! Blessed are all who walk in the paths of righteousness and have no sin like sinners, in the reckoning of all their days. The sun travels through heaven, entering and departing through the gates for thirty days, together with the leaders of thousands. This is the ordinance of the stars, together with the four that are added, which divide the four parts of the year, guide them, and enter with them for four days.
82:5 Because of these, people err and do not count them in the reckoning of the whole year. They make mistakes concerning them, and do not understand them accurately.
82:6 For they belong to the reckoning of the year and are truly appointed forever: one at the first gate, one at the third, one at the fourth, and one at the sixth. Thus the year is completed in three hundred and sixty-four days.
82:7 This account is true, and its reckoning is accurately measured. For Uriel showed me the lights, the months, the festivals, the rainy seasons, and the days, and breathed understanding upon me. The Lord of all the creation of the world had commanded him concerning the host of heaven.
82:8 He has authority over night and day in heaven, to cause the light to shine upon humanity: the sun, the moon, the stars, and all the powers of heaven that turn in their circuits.
82:9 This is the ordinance of the stars, which set in their places, at their seasons, at their festivals, and in their months.
82:10 These are the names of those who guide them, those who keep watch and enter at their appointed seasons, according to their ordinances, times, months, dominions, and stations.
82:11 Four of their leaders enter first, those who divide the four parts of the year. After them come twelve leaders of the ordinances, who divide the months and the year of three hundred and sixty-four days, together with the leaders of thousands who distinguish the days. There are also the four that are added to them, which distinguish the leaders of the four divisions of the years.
82:12 These leaders of thousands stand between leader and leader; one is added after each station, and their leaders make the divisions.
82:13 These are the names of the leaders appointed to divide the four parts of the year: Melkiel, Helʽemmelek, Melʽeyel, and Narel.
82:14 And the names of those who guide them are Adnarel, Iyesusael, and Iylumiel. These three follow the leaders of the ordinances, and one follows after the three leaders of the ordinances, who themselves follow the leaders of the stations that divide the four parts of the year.
82:15 At the beginning of the year the first rises and rules: Melkiyal, whose name is called Temʽani and Sun. All the days of his dominion, during which he rules, are ninety-one days.
82:16 These are the signs of the days that appear upon the earth during his dominion: heat, warmth, and distress. All the trees bear fruit, leaves come forth upon all the trees, there is the harvest of wheat, flowers appear, all the flowers bloom in the wilderness, and the trees of the rainy season dry up.
82:17 These are the names of the leaders beneath him: Berkeel and Zelbesael; and another who is added, a leader of thousands, whose name is Heloyasef. Thus the days of his dominion are completed.
82:18 The second leader after them is Helʽemmelek, whom they call the Shining Sun. All the days of his light are ninety-one days.
82:19 These are the signs of the days upon the earth: burning heat and dryness. The trees bring forth their fruit, ripened and mature, and give their fruit. The produce dries; the sheep mate and conceive; and all the fruit of the earth is gathered, together with everything in the fields and the treading of the winepress. These things occur in the days of his dominion.
82:20 These are their names, their ordinances, and the leaders beneath those leaders of thousands: Gedael, Keel, and Heel. The name of the leader of thousands added with them is Asfael. And the days of his dominion are completed.
83:1 And now, my son Methuselah, I shall show you all the visions that I saw, and I shall recount them before you.
83:2 I saw two visions before I took a wife, and one was unlike the other. The first came when I was learning to write, and the second before I took your mother. I saw a terrible vision, and concerning these things I made supplication to the Lord.
83:3 I was lying down in the house of Mahalalel, my grandfather, when I saw in a vision that heaven was being cast down, torn away, and falling upon the earth.
83:4 And when it fell upon the earth, I saw the earth being swallowed into a great abyss. Mountains were piled upon mountains, hills sank upon hills, and tall trees were cut down from their roots, thrown aside, and swallowed into the abyss.
83:5 Then a word fell into my mouth, and I began to cry aloud, saying: “The earth is destroyed!”
83:6 Mahalalel, my grandfather, awakened me as I lay beside him and said to me: “Why do you cry out so, my son? And why do you lament in this manner?”
83:7 I told him the whole vision I had seen, and he said to me: “What you have seen is terrible, my son, and the vision of your dream is mighty. It concerns all the hidden sin of the earth. The earth is about to be swallowed into an abyss and destroyed with a great destruction.
83:8 “And now, my son, arise and make supplication to the Lord of Glory, for you are faithful, that a remnant may remain upon the earth and that He may not destroy the whole earth.
83:9 “My son, all this shall come down from heaven upon the earth, and upon the earth there shall be great destruction.”
83:10 Afterward I arose and prayed and made supplication. I wrote down my prayer for the generations of the world, and I shall show you everything, my son Methuselah.
83:11 When I went outside and saw heaven, and the sun rising in the east, and the moon descending in the west, and a few stars, and everything as I had known it before, I blessed the Lord of Judgment and gave greatness to Him. For He had brought forth the sun from the windows of the east; it ascended and rose upon the face of heaven, and went forth upon the path that had been shown to it.
84:1 And I raised my hands in righteousness and blessed the Holy and Great One. I spoke with the breath of my mouth and with the tongue of flesh, which God made for the children of humanity so that they might speak with it. He gave them breath, tongue, and mouth so that they might speak.
84:2 “Blessed are You, O Lord, great and mighty King in Your greatness, Lord of all the creation of heaven, King of kings and God of the whole world! “Your divinity, Your kingdom, and Your greatness endure forever and ever. Your dominion remains throughout every generation, and all the heavens are Your throne forever, and all the earth is the footstool of Your feet forever and ever.
84:3 “For You have made all things, and You rule over all. No work is too difficult for You, and no wisdom whatsoever escapes You. Nothing turns away from the place of Your throne or from Your presence. “You know all things, You see all things, and You hear all things. Nothing is hidden from You, for You see everything.
84:4 “And now the angels of Your heavens are sinning, and Your wrath shall be upon the flesh of humanity until the day of the great judgment.
84:5 “And now, O God, Lord and great King, I make supplication and ask that You establish my prayer: that You preserve for me descendants upon the earth, and that You not destroy all human flesh, nor strip the earth bare, so that destruction should endure forever.
84:6 “And now, my Lord, remove from the earth the flesh that has provoked Your wrath, but establish the flesh of righteousness and uprightness as a planting of seed forever. “Do not hide Your face from the supplication of Your servant, O Lord.”
85:1 After this I saw another dream, and I shall show you all of it, my son.
85:2 Enoch began and said to his son Methuselah: “I speak to you, my son. Hear my words and incline your ear to the vision of your father's dream.
85:3 “Before I took your mother, Edna, I saw a vision upon my bed. Behold, a bull came forth from the earth, and that bull was white. “After it came forth a female heifer, and with her came two calves. One of them was black and the other red.
85:4 “The black calf struck the red one and pursued him upon the earth, and from that time I could no longer see the red calf.
85:5 “The black calf grew, and that female heifer came with him. I saw many cattle come forth from him, resembling him and following after him.
85:6 “But that first young female went out from before the face of the first bull, searching for the red calf, and she did not find him. Then she cried out with a great cry and continued searching for him.
85:7 “I watched until that first bull came to her and quieted her. From that time onward she cried out no more.
85:8 “After this she gave birth to another white bull, and afterward she bore many cattle and black calves.
85:9 “I saw in my sleep that this white bull grew in the same way and became a great white bull. From him came forth many white cattle, resembling him.
85:10 “They began to bring forth many white cattle resembling themselves, and one followed another.”
86:1 And again I saw with my eyes while I slept. I looked at heaven above, and behold, a star fell from heaven. It arose, ate, and grazed among those cattle.
86:2 Then I saw the great black cattle, and behold, they all changed their enclosures, their pastures, and their calves, and began to cry out to one another.
86:3 Again I saw in the vision, and I looked toward heaven. Behold, I saw many stars descending and casting themselves down from heaven toward that first star. They came among those calves and cattle, and grazed among them.
86:4 I looked at them and saw that all of them exposed their private parts like horses, and began to mount the young females of the cattle. All of them conceived and gave birth to elephants, camels, and asses.
86:5 All the cattle feared them and were terrified before them. The creatures began to bite with their teeth, swallow, and strike with their horns.
86:6 Then they began to devour those cattle. And behold, all the children of the earth began to tremble and shake before them, and to flee.
87:1 Again I saw them, and they began to strike one another and swallow one another. And the earth began to cry out.
87:2 Again I raised my eyes toward heaven, and I saw in the vision: behold, there came forth from heaven beings resembling white men. One came forth from that place, and three were with him.
87:3 And those three who had come forth afterward took me by my hands and raised me from the generations of the earth. They lifted me to a high place and showed me a lofty tower above the earth, and all the hills were low beneath it.
87:4 And they said to me, “Remain here until you see everything that will come upon these elephants, camels, and donkeys, upon the stars, and upon all the cattle.”
88:1 And I saw one of the four who had come forth first. He seized that first star which had fallen from heaven, bound its hands and feet, and cast it into an abyss. And that abyss was narrow and deep, terrible and dark.
88:2 And one of them drew his sword and gave it against those elephants, camels, and donkeys. They began to strike one another, and the whole earth trembled because of them.
88:3 And as I watched in the vision, behold, one of those four who had come forth descended from heaven. He gathered together and seized all the great stars whose bodies were like the bodies of horses. He bound them all by their hands and feet and cast them into the clefts of the earth.
89:1 And one of those four went to the white cattle and taught a mystery to one of them. That bull was trembling, but it became a man. He built for himself a great vessel and dwelt within it, and three cattle remained with him in that vessel. And it was covered over above them.
89:2 Again I lifted my eyes toward heaven, and I saw a high roof, with seven channels upon it. And those channels poured much water into a single enclosure.
89:3 Again I looked, and behold, fountains were opened in the earth, within that great enclosure. The water began to rise and overflow upon the earth, until the whole earth was covered with water.
89:4 And the water increased upon it, together with darkness and cloud. I looked at the height of that water, and the water rose above the enclosure and poured over its boundary, and it remained upon the earth.
89:5 And all the cattle that were in that enclosure were gathered together. I saw them sinking, being swallowed up, and perishing in that water.
89:6 But that vessel floated upon the water. And all the cattle, elephants, camels, donkeys, and every living creature sank into the earth. I could no longer see them. They were unable to escape, but perished and sank into the deep.
89:7 Again I watched in the vision until those channels were closed from that high roof. The clefts of the earth were made level, and other depths were opened.
89:8 The water began to descend into them until the earth appeared. And the vessel rested upon the earth. The darkness departed, and there was light.
89:9 And that white bull which had become a man came forth from the vessel, and the three cattle were with him. One of those three cattle was white, resembling that bull; one was red like blood; and one was black. And that white bull departed from among them.
89:10 And they began to bring forth wild animals and birds. From them came creatures of every kind and appearance: lions, leopards, dogs, wolves, hyenas, wild beasts, foxes, wild swine, small creatures, and many kinds of birds and other animals. And among them a white bull was born.
89:11 And they began to bite one another. But that white bull which had been born among them begot a wild donkey and a white bull with it. And the wild donkeys multiplied.
89:12 And the bull born from him begot a black wild boar and a white sheep. And that wild boar begot many wild boars, while the sheep begot twelve sheep.
89:13 And when those twelve sheep had grown, they handed over one of their number to the donkeys. And the donkeys in turn handed over that sheep to the wolves. And that sheep grew up among the wolves.
89:14 But the Lord brought the eleven sheep to dwell with him and to pasture with him among the wolves. And they multiplied and became great flocks of sheep.
89:15 Then the wolves began to fear them and to oppress them. They destroyed their young and cast their young into a great river of water.
89:16 And those sheep began to cry out because of their young and to complain to their Lord.
89:17 But a sheep that had escaped from the wolves fled and went among the wild donkeys.
89:18 And I saw the sheep lamenting, crying aloud, and pleading with their Lord with all their strength, until the Lord of the sheep descended from His lofty dwelling in answer to the voice of the sheep. He came to them and saw them.
89:19 And He called that sheep which had escaped from the wolves and spoke to him concerning the wolves, that he should testify against them so that they would no longer touch the sheep.
89:20 And the sheep went to the wolves according to the word of the Lord. Another sheep met that sheep and went with him. And the two of them entered together into the assembly of the wolves. They spoke to them and testified against them, that from that time onward they should no longer touch the sheep.
89:21 After this I saw how the wolves became still more severe against the sheep, using all their strength. And the sheep cried out.
89:22 Then their Lord came to the sheep and began to strike those wolves. The wolves began to howl, but the sheep became silent, and from that time they no longer cried out.
89:23 And I saw the sheep departing from the wolves. The eyes of the wolves were darkened, yet those wolves went out pursuing the sheep with all their strength.
89:24 And the Lord of the sheep went with them, leading them. All His sheep followed Him. His face was glorious, His appearance terrible, and He was majestic.
89:25 But the wolves continued pursuing those sheep until they overtook them beside a body of water.
89:26 And that body of water was divided. The water stood on this side and on that side before them, while their Lord led them and stood between them and the wolves.
89:27 And because the wolves still did not see the sheep, the sheep went into the midst of that water. The wolves pursued them and ran after them into the water.
89:28 But when they saw the Lord of the sheep, they turned back to flee from before His face. And that body of water came together again and quickly returned to its former condition. The water filled the passage and rose until it covered those wolves.
89:29 And I watched until all the wolves that had pursued those sheep perished and were drowned.
89:30 But the sheep crossed that water and went out into a wilderness where there was neither water nor grass. And they began to open their eyes and see.
89:31 And I saw the Lord of the sheep caring for them, giving them water and grass, while that sheep went forth and led them.
89:32 And that sheep ascended to the summit of a high rock, and the Lord of the sheep sent him to them.
89:33 After this I saw the Lord of the sheep standing before them. His appearance was terrible and mighty, and all those sheep saw Him and were afraid before His face.
89:34 All of them feared and trembled before Him. And they cried out after that sheep which was with Him, and to another sheep which was among them, saying that they could not stand before their Lord or look upon Him.
89:35 Then that sheep which had been leading them returned and ascended to the summit of that rock.
89:36 But the eyes of the sheep began to grow dark, and they wandered from the path which he had shown them. And that sheep did not know of it.
89:37 And the Lord of the sheep became exceedingly angry with them. That sheep learned of it and descended from the summit of the rock. He came to the sheep and found that most of them had darkened eyes and had wandered from His path.
89:38 And when they saw him, they feared and trembled before his face, and they desired to return to their enclosure.
89:39 But that sheep took other sheep with him and went to those sheep that had wandered. Then he began to kill them, and the sheep feared before his face.
89:40 And that sheep brought back those sheep that had wandered, and they returned to their enclosures.
89:41 And I watched there in the vision until that sheep became a man and built a house for the Lord of the sheep. And he made all the sheep stand within that house.
89:42 And I watched until the sheep which had met that sheep who led the sheep lay down.
89:43 And I watched until all the great sheep perished, and little ones arose in their place. They entered into pasture and approached a river of water.
89:44 And that sheep which had led them, which had become a man, was separated from them and lay down. And all the sheep sought him and cried out over him with a great cry.
89:45 And I watched until they ceased crying out for that sheep. They crossed that river of water, and all the sheep that led them stood in the place of those who had lain down, and led them.
89:46 And I saw the sheep until they entered a good place, a pleasant and glorious land. And I saw those sheep until they were satisfied, and that house was among them in the pleasant land.
89:47 And sometimes their eyes were opened, and sometimes they were darkened, until another sheep arose and led them. He brought them all back, and their eyes were opened.
89:48 Then dogs, foxes, and wild boars began to devour those sheep, until another sheep arose from among them, a ram which led them.
89:49 And that ram began to strike those dogs, foxes, and wild boars on this side and on that, until he destroyed them all.
89:50 And that sheep's eyes were opened, and he saw that ram among the sheep. The ram had abandoned his glory and had begun to strike those sheep, trampling them and walking without restraint.
89:51 And the Lord of the sheep sent the sheep to another sheep and raised him up to become a ram and to lead the sheep in place of that sheep which had abandoned his glory.
89:52 And he went to him and spoke to him alone, and raised him up as a ram. He made him ruler and leader of the sheep. But throughout all this, those dogs oppressed the sheep.
89:53 And the first ram pursued that later ram. But the later ram arose and fled from before his face.
89:54 And I watched until those dogs brought down the first ram.
89:55 Then the later ram arose and led the little sheep. And that ram begot many sheep, and he lay down. And a young sheep became a ram in his place, and became ruler and leader of those sheep.
89:56 And those sheep grew and multiplied. All the dogs, foxes, and wild boars feared him and fled from him.
89:57 And that ram struck and killed all the wild animals, so that those animals could no longer come among the sheep or seize anything from them.
89:58 And that house became great and spacious. A high tower was built for those sheep, above that house, for the Lord of the sheep.
89:59 And that house was low, but the tower was raised up and became high. And the Lord of the sheep stood upon that tower, and a full table was set before Him.
89:60 And again I saw those sheep wandering and going along many paths. They abandoned that house of theirs.
89:61 And the Lord of the sheep called some from among the sheep and sent them to the sheep. But the sheep began to kill them.
89:62 And one of them escaped and was not killed. He fled and cried out against the sheep. They sought to kill him, but the Lord of the sheep rescued him from the hands of the sheep, brought him up to me, and made him remain there.
89:63 And He sent many other sheep to those sheep to testify and cry out against them.
89:64 After this I saw that they abandoned the house of the Lord of the sheep and His tower. They all went astray, and their eyes were darkened.
89:65 And I saw the Lord of the sheep bringing about a great slaughter among them, within their own pastures, until those sheep themselves called for that slaughter and betrayed His dwelling place.
89:66 And He abandoned them into the hands of lions, leopards, wolves, hyenas, foxes, and every kind of wild animal. And those wild animals began to tear those sheep apart.
89:67 And I saw how He abandoned their house and their tower, and delivered them all into the hands of lions, that they might tear them apart and devour them, and into the hands of all the wild animals.
89:68 Then I began to cry out with all my strength and to call upon the Lord of the sheep. I showed Him how the sheep were being devoured by all the wild animals.
89:69 But He remained silent as He watched, and He rejoiced that they were being devoured, swallowed up, and carried away. He abandoned them into the hands of all the animals to be eaten.
89:70 And He called seventy shepherds and entrusted those sheep to them, that they might pasture them.
89:71 And He said to the shepherds and their companions, each one of them, “From now on, each of you shall pasture the sheep, and do everything that I command you.
89:72 “I shall hand them over to you by number, and I shall tell you which of them are to perish. And you shall destroy those.”
89:73 And He handed over those sheep to them.
89:74 And He called another and said to him, “Take heed and observe everything that the shepherds do to these sheep, for they will destroy more of them than I have commanded them.
89:75 “Write down all the excess and all the destruction committed by the shepherds: how many they destroy according to My command, and how many they destroy on their own.
89:76 “Write down against each shepherd all the destruction which he causes.
89:77 “And read out before Me the number: how many they destroy of their own accord, and how many they hand over to destruction, so that this may be a testimony for Me against them.
89:78 “Thus I shall know all the deeds of the shepherds, and may examine whether they abide by the command which I have given them or not.
89:79 “But do not make it known to them, and do not rebuke them. Rather, write down all the destruction caused by the shepherds, each in his own time, and bring everything up to Me.”
89:80 And I watched until those shepherds pastured in their appointed times. They began to kill and destroy many more than their command permitted, and they abandoned those sheep into the hands of lions.
89:81 And the lions and leopards devoured and swallowed up most of those sheep, and the wild boars ate with them. And they burned that tower and demolished that house.
89:82 And I grieved exceedingly over the tower, because that house of the sheep had been demolished. Afterward I could no longer see those sheep entering that house.
89:83 And the shepherds and their companions handed those sheep over to all the wild animals, that they might devour them.
89:84 And each one, in his appointed time, was given a numbered portion. And each one wrote in a book concerning the others how many he destroyed.
89:85 And each one killed and destroyed more than his appointed portion. And I began to weep and lament exceedingly because of those sheep.
89:86 And thus I saw in the vision the one who was writing: how he wrote down each one that perished through those shepherds, day by day. He ascended and presented the whole book before the Lord of the sheep; all that they had done, all that each one had taken away, and all that they had handed over to destruction.
89:87 And the book was read before the Lord of the sheep. He took the book in His hand, read it, sealed it, and laid it down.
89:88 After this I saw the shepherds pasturing for twelve periods. And behold, three of those sheep returned, came in, and began to rebuild all that had fallen from that house. The wild boars hindered them, but they were unable to stop them.
89:89 And they began to build again as before. They raised up that tower, and it was called the high tower.
89:90 And again they began to set a table before the tower, but all the bread upon it was defiled and was not pure.
89:91 And concerning all this, the eyes of those sheep were darkened, and they did not see. Their shepherds were likewise so. And they handed over even their shepherds to destruction in greater numbers, and they trampled the sheep under their feet and devoured them.
89:92 And the Lord of the sheep remained silent until all the sheep were scattered among the wild animals and mingled with them. And the shepherds did not rescue them from the hands of the animals.
89:93 And the one who wrote the book brought it up, showed it, and read it before the dwellings of the Lord of the sheep. He pleaded on their behalf and petitioned Him, showing Him all the deeds of their shepherds and bearing witness before Him against all the shepherds.
89:94 And He took the book and placed it beside Him, and the writer went out.
90:1 And I saw until the time when thirty-seven shepherds were shepherding in this manner. All of them completed their appointed times, as the former shepherds had done. Others received the sheep into their hands, so that they might shepherd them in their own appointed times, each shepherd in his time.
90:2 After this I saw in the vision all the birds of heaven coming: eagles, vultures, kites, ravens, and eagles leading all the birds. They began to devour those sheep, gouging out their eyes and eating their flesh.
90:3 And the sheep cried out because the birds were devouring their flesh. And I cried out and lamented in my sleep against that shepherd who was tending the sheep.
90:4 And I watched until those sheep were devoured by dogs, eagles, and kites. They left neither flesh nor skin nor sinew upon them, until only their bones remained. Their bones fell upon the earth, and the sheep became few.
90:5 And I watched until the time when twenty-three shepherds were shepherding. They completed, each in his appointed time, fifty-eight times.
90:6 Then little lambs were born from those white sheep. They began to open their eyes, to see, and to cry out to the sheep.
90:7 But the sheep did not cry out to them, nor did they heed what the lambs told them. Instead, they became exceedingly deaf, and their eyes were exceedingly and greatly blinded.
90:8 And I saw in the vision ravens flying upon those lambs. They seized one of the lambs, and they crushed and devoured the sheep.
90:9 And I watched until horns grew upon those lambs, but the ravens cast down their horns. Then I saw a great horn grow upon one of those sheep, and their eyes were opened.
90:10 It looked upon them, and their eyes were opened. It cried out to the sheep, and all the rams saw it and ran toward it.
90:11 Yet all those eagles, vultures, ravens, and kites continued to seize the sheep, swoop down upon them, and devour them. The sheep remained silent, but the rams lamented and cried out.
90:12 And those ravens fought and contended with the horned ram. They wished to break its horn, but they could not.
90:13 And I watched until the shepherds came, together with the eagles, vultures, and kites. They cried out to the ravens to break the horn of that ram. They fought against it and made war upon it, while it fought against them and cried out for help to come to it.
90:14 And I watched until that man came who had written the names of the shepherds and who had gone up before the Lord of the Sheep. He helped the ram, showed it everything, and brought help down to it.
90:15 And I watched until the Lord of the Sheep came to them in wrath. All who saw him fled, and all fell into his shadow before his face.
90:16 All the eagles, vultures, ravens, and kites gathered together. They brought with them all the sheep of the wilderness. They came together and helped one another to break the horn of that ram.
90:17 And I saw that man who wrote the book at the command of the Lord. He opened the book of destruction; the destruction which those twelve last shepherds had caused; and showed before the Lord of the Sheep that they had destroyed far more than those who had preceded them.
90:18 And I watched until the Lord of the Sheep came to them. He took in his hand the staff of wrath and struck the earth. The earth was split open, and all the beasts and birds of heaven fell away from those sheep. They sank into the earth, and it closed over them.
90:19 And I watched until a great sword was given to the sheep. The sheep went out against those beasts of the wilderness to kill them, and all the beasts and birds of heaven fled before their faces.
90:20 And I watched until a throne was erected in a pleasant land. The Lord of the Sheep sat upon it, and all the sealed books were taken and opened before the Lord of the Sheep.
90:21 And the Lord called those first seven white ones and commanded them to bring before him the first star, which had gone before those stars whose private parts were like the private parts of horses, and the first star which had fallen before the others. And they brought them all before him.
90:22 And he spoke to that man who wrote before him, who was one of the seven white ones, saying, “Take those seventy shepherds to whom I entrusted the sheep. They took them and killed many more than I commanded them.”
90:23 And behold, I saw them all bound, and they all stood before him.
90:24 And judgment was held first over the stars. They were judged and found guilty, and they went to the place of judgment. They were cast into an abyss filled with blazing fire and pillars of fire.
90:25 And those seventy shepherds were judged and found guilty. They too were cast into that abyss of fire.
90:26 And I saw at that time that another abyss was opened in the midst of the earth, likewise filled with fire. And they brought those blinded sheep. They were all judged and found guilty, and were cast into that abyss of fire and burned. And this abyss was to the right of that house.
90:27 And I saw those sheep burning, and their bones burning.
90:28 And I stood watching until that old house was folded up. They removed all its pillars, and all its beams and ornaments were folded up with it. They took it away and laid it in one place to the right of the earth.
90:29 And I watched until the Lord of the Sheep brought a new house, greater and higher than the former one. He set it in the place of the first house, which had been folded up. All its pillars were new, and its ornaments were new and greater than those of the first, old house which had been removed. And all the sheep were within it.
90:30 And I saw all the sheep that remained, and all the animals upon the earth, and all the birds of heaven, falling down and bowing before those sheep. They made supplication to them and obeyed them in every word.
90:31 Then those three who were clothed in white, who had formerly brought me up, took me by my hand. And the hand of that ram took hold of me, and they brought me up and set me among those sheep, before judgment took place.
90:32 And all those sheep were white, and their wool was abundant and pure.
90:33 And all that had been destroyed and scattered, and all the beasts of the wilderness and all the birds of heaven, were gathered into that house. And the Lord of the Sheep rejoiced with great joy because they were all good and had returned into his house.
90:34 And I watched until they laid down that sword which had been given to the sheep. They brought it back into his house and sealed it before the face of the Lord. And all the sheep were enclosed within that house, and it could not contain them.
90:35 And the eyes of all of them were opened, and they saw clearly. There was not one among them who did not see.
90:36 And I saw that the house was great and broad and exceedingly full.
90:37 And I saw that a white bull was born, and its horns were great. All the beasts of the wilderness and all the birds of heaven feared it and made supplication to it at all times.
90:38 And I watched until all their kinds were transformed, and they all became white bulls. And the first among them became a great creature, and that creature had great black horns upon its head. And the Lord of the Sheep rejoiced over them and over all the bulls.
90:39 And I lay down among them and awoke, and I had seen everything.
90:40 This was the vision which I saw while I slept. And I awoke and blessed the Lord of Righteousness, and to him I gave praise.
90:41 Afterward I wept with great weeping, and my tears did not cease until I could no longer endure it, when I saw them descending upon what I had seen. For everything would come and be fulfilled, and all the deeds of humankind, each according to its portion, had been shown to me.
90:42 And that night I remembered my former dream. Because of it I wept and was troubled, for I had seen that vision.
91:1 “And now, my son Methuselah, call all your brothers to me, and gather to me all the children of your mother. For a voice calls me, and a spirit has been poured out upon me, that I may show you everything which shall befall you until eternity.”
91:2 Then Methuselah went and called all his brothers to him, and gathered together his kindred.
91:3 And Enoch spoke righteousness to all his children, saying: “Hear, my children, all the words of your father, and listen rightly to the word of my mouth. For I shall testify to you and tell you, my beloved: Love uprightness and walk in it.
91:4 Do not approach uprightness with a divided heart, and do not associate with those who are divided in heart. Rather, walk in righteousness, my children, and it shall lead you along good paths, and righteousness shall be your companion.
91:5 For I know that the condition of oppression will become strong upon the earth, and a great punishment will be accomplished upon the earth. All wickedness shall come to an end and be cut off from its roots, and every structure shall pass away.
91:6 Yet wickedness shall again be repeated, and every work of rebellion, oppression, and sin shall again be accomplished upon the earth.
91:7 And when rebellion, sin, blasphemy, oppression, and every evil deed increase, and when apostasy, wrongdoing, and uncleanness increase, a great punishment shall come from heaven upon all these. And the holy Lord shall come forth in wrath and punishment to execute judgment upon the earth.
91:8 In those days oppression shall be cut off from its roots, and the roots of rebellion, together with deceit, shall perish from beneath heaven.
91:9 And all shall be given over, together with the nations, to burning fire. They shall be removed from all the earth and cast into the judgment of fire. They shall perish in wrath and in mighty judgment forever.
91:10 And the righteous shall arise from sleep, and wisdom shall arise and be given to them.
91:11 Then the roots of rebellion shall be cut off, and sinners shall perish by the sword. From among the blasphemers they shall be cut off in every place, and those who devise oppression and practice blasphemy shall perish by the knife.
91:12 And after this there shall be another week, the eighth, a week of righteousness. A sword shall be given to it so that judgment and righteousness may be executed against those who oppress, and sinners shall be delivered into the hands of the righteous.
91:13 And at its end they shall acquire houses through their righteousness, and a house shall be built for the Great King in glory forever.
91:14 And after this, in the ninth week, the judgment of righteousness shall be revealed to the whole world. Every work of the wicked shall depart from the face of the whole earth, and it shall be written for the destruction of the world. And all humankind shall look toward the path of uprightness.
91:15 And after this, in the tenth week, in its seventh part, there shall be the eternal judgment, which shall be executed upon the watchers, and a great eternal heaven shall spring forth from among the angels.
91:16 And the first heaven shall depart and pass away, and a new heaven shall appear. And all the powers of the heavens shall shine forever with sevenfold brightness.
91:17 And after this there shall be many weeks without number, forever, in goodness and righteousness. And from that time onward sin shall no longer be spoken of, forever.
91:18 And now I tell you, my children, and show you the paths of righteousness and also the paths of oppression. I shall show you again, so that you may know what is to come.
91:19 And now hear, my children, and walk in the paths of righteousness, and do not walk in the paths of oppression. For all who walk in the path of rebellion shall perish forever.”
92:1 That which was written by Enoch, the scribe of all this teaching of wisdom, praised above all humankind and judge of the whole earth, for all my children who dwell upon the earth, and for the later generations who shall practice uprightness and peace.
92:2 “Let not your spirit be sorrowful because of the times, for the Great Holy One has appointed days for everything.
92:3 And the righteous shall arise from sleep. He shall arise and walk in the path of righteousness, and all his path and conduct shall be in goodness and in everlasting mercy.
92:4 He shall show mercy to the righteous and shall give him everlasting uprightness. He shall give him authority, and he shall live in goodness and righteousness, and shall walk in everlasting light.
92:5 But sin shall perish in darkness forever, and from that day onward it shall never again be seen, forever.”
93:1 And after this Enoch began to speak from the writings.
93:2 And Enoch said: “Concerning the children of righteousness, and concerning the chosen of the world, and concerning the plant of righteousness and uprightness; these things I shall tell you and make known to you, my children. “I am Enoch. From the vision of heaven that was shown to me, and from the words of the holy angels, I have learned these things, and from the tablets of heaven I have understood them.”
93:3 Then Enoch began to speak from the writings, saying: “I was born the seventh in the first week, while judgment and righteousness were still being restrained.
93:4 And after me, in the second week, great evil and deceit shall arise. In that week the first end shall take place, and in it a man shall be saved. And after it is completed, rebellion shall increase, and a law shall be made for sinners.
93:5 And after this, in the third week, at its end, a man shall be chosen as the plant of righteous judgment. And after him the plant of righteousness shall come forth forever.
93:6 And after this, in the fourth week, at its end, visions of the holy and righteous shall be seen. And a law for generation after generation and an enclosure shall be made for them.
93:7 And after this, in the fifth week, at its end, a house of glory and dominion shall be built forever.
93:8 And after this, in the sixth week, all who are within it shall be blinded, and the hearts of them all shall forget wisdom. In that week a man shall ascend. And at its end the house of dominion shall be burned with fire, and in that week the whole lineage of the chosen root shall be scattered.
93:9 And after this, in the seventh week, a rebellious generation shall arise. Many shall be its deeds, and all its deeds shall be rebellion.
93:10 And at its end the chosen righteous ones shall be selected from the everlasting plant of righteousness. To them shall be given sevenfold instruction concerning all his creation.
93:11 For who is there among all the children of humankind who can hear the voice of the Holy One and not be troubled? And who can think his thoughts? And who can behold all the works of heaven?
93:12 And who is there who can understand the work of heaven, and see its soul; or rather its spirit; and tell of it? Or who can ascend and behold all their wings, and understand them, or do as they do?
93:13 And who is there among all humankind who can know the breadth and length of the earth? And to whom have all its measurements been revealed?
93:14 And is there anyone among humankind who can know the length of heaven, how great is its height, upon what it is established, how many are the stars, and where all the lights rest?”
94:1 “And now I say to you, my children: Love righteousness and walk in it, for the paths of righteousness are worthy of being accepted, but the paths of rebellion shall quickly perish and come to an end.
94:2 And to certain men of a generation the paths of oppression and death shall be revealed, but they shall keep far from them and shall not follow them.
94:3 And now I say to you, the righteous: Do not walk in the path of evil and oppression, nor in the paths of death. Do not draw near to them, lest you perish.
94:4 Rather, desire and choose for yourselves righteousness and a good life, and walk in the paths of peace, that you may live and prosper.
94:5 Hold fast to my words in the thoughts of your hearts, and let not my words be erased from your hearts. For I know that sinners will counsel men to practice evil wisdom, and no place shall be found for it, and every affliction shall not cease.
94:6 Woe to those who build up rebellion and oppression and establish deceit, for they shall suddenly be overthrown, and they shall have no peace.
94:7 Woe to those who build their houses through sin, for they shall be overthrown from all their foundations, and by the sword they shall fall. And those who acquire gold and silver shall quickly perish in judgment.
94:8 Woe to you, the wealthy, for you have trusted in your riches, and from your riches you shall be separated, because you did not remember the Most High in the days of your prosperity.
94:9 You have practiced blasphemy and rebellion, and you have made yourselves ready for the day of the shedding of blood, for the day of darkness, and for the day of great judgment.
94:10 Thus I say and make known to you: He who created you shall cast you down, and in your downfall there shall be no mercy. Your Creator shall rejoice over your destruction.
94:11 And your righteous ones, in those days, shall become a reproach to sinners and to the wicked.”
95:1 “Who will give my eyes the power to become a cloud of water, that I may weep over you and pour out my tears like a cloud of water, and so find relief from the sorrow of my heart?
95:2 Who has given you leave to practice hatred and evil? Judgment shall find you, O sinners.
95:3 Fear not sinners, O righteous ones, for God shall again deliver them into your hands, that you may execute judgment upon them according to your desire.
95:4 Woe to you who pronounce curses that cannot be undone! Healing shall be far from you because of your sins.
95:5 Woe to you who repay your neighbor with evil, for you shall be repaid according to your deeds.
95:6 Woe to you, false witnesses, and to those who give support to rebellion, for you shall quickly perish.
95:7 Woe to you, sinners, because you persecute the righteous. For you shall be handed over and persecuted, you who practice rebellion, and their yoke shall be made heavy upon you.”
96:1 “Have hope, O righteous ones, for the sinners shall quickly perish from before you, and authority over them shall be yours according to your desire.
96:2 And in the day of the suffering of sinners, your children shall rise and soar like eagles. Your nesting place shall be higher than that of vultures, and you shall ascend and enter the clefts of the earth and the fissures of the rock forever, like coneys, away from the presence of the rebellious. And they shall groan over you and weep like sirens.
96:3 But you, do not fear, you who have suffered, for healing shall be yours. A bright light shall shine for you, and you shall hear a word of rest from heaven.
96:4 Woe to you, sinners, for your wealth makes you appear righteous, but your hearts accuse you of being sinners. And this word shall be a witness against you, as a remembrance of your evil deeds.
96:5 Woe to you who eat the finest of the wheat and drink the strength drawn from the source of the spring, and who trample the humble beneath your power.
96:6 Woe to you who drink water at all times, for you shall quickly receive your recompense. You shall be consumed and wither away, because you have forsaken the spring of life.
96:7 Woe to you who practice rebellion, deceit, and blasphemy, for there shall be a remembrance of your evil against you.
96:8 Woe to you, mighty ones, who oppress the righteous by your strength, for the day of your destruction shall come. In those days many good days shall come to the righteous, on the day of your judgment.”
97:1 “Be assured, O righteous ones, that sinners shall become an object of reproach and shall perish in the day of rebellion.
97:2 Let it be known to you that the Most High remembers your destruction, and that the angels rejoice over your destruction.
97:3 What will you do, O sinners, and where will you flee on that day of judgment, when you hear the voice of the prayer of the righteous?
97:4 You shall not be like those concerning whom this word shall be a witness against you: ‘You have become companions of sinners.’
97:5 And in those days the prayer of the righteous shall reach the Lord, and the days of your judgment shall come upon you.
97:6 And all the words of your rebellion shall be recited before the Great and Holy One. Your faces shall be covered with shame, and every deed that has been strengthened through rebellion shall be cast away.
97:7 Woe to you, sinners, whether in the midst of the sea or upon the dry land, whose remembrance is evil against you.
97:8 Woe to you who acquire silver and gold without righteousness, and say, ‘We have become wealthy, and possessions have come to us, and we have acquired everything that we desired.
97:9 Now let us do what we have planned, for we have gathered silver and filled our treasuries, and the possessions of our houses are as abundant as water.’
97:10 But your falsehood shall flow away like water, for your riches shall not remain with you. They shall quickly depart from you, because you acquired everything through rebellion, and you shall be given over to a great curse.”
98:1 “And now I swear to you, the wise and the foolish alike, that you shall see many things upon the earth.
98:2 For you men shall adorn yourselves with ornaments more than women, and with colors more than virgins, in royalty and grandeur and power, and in silver, gold, purple, honor, and wealth, which shall be poured out like water.
98:3 Because of this, they have neither knowledge nor wisdom, and through these things they shall perish together with their possessions and with all their glory and honor. In shame, slaughter, and great burning, their spirits shall be cast into a furnace of fire.
98:4 I swear to you, sinners, that no mountain has become a servant, nor shall it become one, and no hill has become a woman's maidservant. Likewise, sin was not sent upon the earth; rather, human beings created it of themselves, and those who commit it shall come under a great curse.
98:5 And barrenness was not given to a woman, but because of the deeds of her own hands she dies without children.
98:6 I swear to you, sinners, by the Holy and Great One, that all your evil deeds are revealed in the heavens, and that none of your deeds of oppression is covered or hidden.
98:7 Do not imagine in your spirits, nor say in your hearts, that you do not know or see that every sin is written in heaven every day before the Most High.
98:8 From now on, know that all the oppression which you commit is written down every day until the day of your judgment.
98:9 Woe to you, fools, for you shall perish through your folly. You do not listen to the wise, and good shall not find you.
98:10 And now know that you are prepared for the day of destruction. Do not hope that you shall live, O sinners. Rather, you shall depart and die, for you know no ransom, because you have been made ready for the day of great judgment and for the day of suffering and great disgrace for your spirits.
98:11 Woe to you, stubborn of heart, who practice evil and consume blood! From where do you obtain the good things that you eat and drink and with which you satisfy yourselves? Are they not from all the good things which our Lord, the Most High, has caused to abound upon the earth? Yet you shall have no peace.
98:12 Woe to you who love the deeds of rebellion! Why do you hope for good? Know that you shall be delivered into the hands of the righteous, and they shall cut your throats and kill you, and shall have no mercy upon you.
98:13 Woe to you who rejoice in the suffering of the righteous, for no grave shall be dug for you.
98:14 Woe to you who make the words of the righteous worthless, for there shall be no hope of life for you.
98:15 Woe to you who write words of falsehood and words of the wicked, for they write their falsehoods so that people may hear them and not forget their folly. There shall be no peace for them, but they shall quickly die a death.”
99:1 Woe to those who practice wickedness and praise and honor words of falsehood! You have perished, and there is no good life for you.
99:2 Woe to you who pervert the words of truth and the everlasting ordinances, and who lead astray those who are not sinners upon the earth.
99:3 In those days, be ready, O righteous ones, to raise up your prayers as a memorial. Set them as witnesses before the angels, that they may place the sins of sinners before the Most High as a remembrance.
99:4 In those days the nations shall be troubled, and the families of the nations shall rise up on the day of destruction.
99:5 In those days pregnant women shall go forth and cast away their children. They shall abandon their children, and their offspring shall slip away from them. While their children are still nursing, they shall cast them away; they shall not return to them, nor shall they show mercy to their beloved ones.
99:6 Again I swear to you, sinners, that sin has been prepared for a day of blood that shall not cease.
99:7 They shall worship stones and those things fashioned from gold, silver, wood, and clay. They shall worship unclean spirits, demons, and every idol. Yet no help shall be found from them in the wildernesses.
99:8 They shall become foolish because of the folly of their hearts, and their eyes shall be darkened through the fear of their hearts and the visions of their dreams.
99:9 Through these things they shall become foolish and afraid, because they have done all their deeds in falsehood and have worshiped stones. They shall perish in an instant.
99:10 But in those days blessed are all who receive the words of wisdom, understand them, and practice the ways of the Most High; who walk in the path of righteousness and do not become foolish with those who are foolish. For they shall be saved.
99:11 Woe to you who spread evil against your neighbor, for you shall be slain in Sheol.
99:12 Woe to you who lay the foundations of sin and deceit, and to those who bring bitterness upon the earth, for there they shall be consumed.
99:13 Woe to you who build your houses through the labor of others, whose whole construction is of bricks and stones of sin! I tell you that you shall have no peace.
99:14 Woe to those who reject the measure and the everlasting inheritance of their fathers, and who follow after idols with their souls, for they shall have no rest.
99:15 Woe to those who practice rebellion, assist oppression, and kill their neighbors, until the day of great judgment.
99:16 For He shall bring down your glory, place evil within your hearts, and raise up the spirit of His wrath to destroy you all by the sword. And all the righteous and holy ones shall remember your sins.
100:1 And in those days, in one place, fathers and their children shall wound one another, and brothers shall fall in death together with their companions, until their blood flows like a river.
100:2 For a man shall not withhold his hand from his son or from his son's son, showing mercy so as not to kill him. And the sinner shall not withhold his hand from his honored brother. From dawn until the setting of the sun they shall fight one another.
100:3 The horse shall walk through the blood of sinners up to its chest, and the chariot shall sink into it up to its upper part.
100:4 And in those days angels shall descend into the hiding places and gather into one place all who assist sin. And on that day the Most High shall arise to execute a great judgment upon all sinners.
100:5 And over all the righteous and holy ones He shall appoint guardians from among the holy angels. They shall guard them as the pupil of an eye until all evil and all sin have come to an end. Even if the righteous sleep a long sleep, they shall have nothing to fear.
100:6 Then wise men shall see, and the children of the earth shall understand all the words of this book. They shall know that their riches cannot save them when their sins bring them down.
100:7 Woe to you, sinners, when you afflict the righteous on the day of severe distress and burn them with fire! You shall receive repayment according to your deeds.
100:8 Woe to you, stubborn of heart, who labor to devise evil! Fear shall find you, and there shall be no one to help you.
100:9 Woe to you, sinners, for because of the words of your mouths and the deeds of your hands, which are your wicked works, you shall be burned in the heat of blazing fire.
100:10 And now know that the angels shall investigate your deeds in heaven, asking the sun, the moon, and the stars concerning your sins, because upon the earth you bring judgment against the righteous.
100:11 And He shall cause every cloud, mist, dew, and rain to bear witness against you, for all of them shall be withheld from you, so that they do not descend upon you or give thought to your sins.
100:12 And now give gifts to the rain, so that it may not be prevented from descending upon you, and to the dew, if it has withheld itself from you, give gold and silver.
100:13 When the frost and its snow, and all the dusty winds and all their afflictions, fall upon you in those days, you shall not be able to stand before them.
101:1 Consider heaven, all you children of heaven, and all the works of the Most High. Fear Him, and do not practice evil before Him.
101:2 If He closes the windows of heaven and withholds rain and dew so that they do not descend upon the earth for your sake, what will you do?
101:3 And if He sends His wrath upon you and upon all your deeds, will you not be the ones who plead with Him? For you speak great and harsh words against His righteousness, and there shall be no peace for you.
101:4 Do you not see the kings of ships, how they are troubled by the waves, how their ships are tossed by the winds, and how they are shaken?
101:5 Because of this they are afraid, for all their precious possessions go out upon the sea with them. And they think no good thought in their hearts, fearing that the sea will swallow them and that they will perish within it.
101:6 Is not the whole sea, with all its waters and all its movements, the work of the Most High? Has He not sealed all its works and bound its entirety with sand?
101:7 At His rebuke it dries up and becomes afraid, and all its fish die, together with everything that is within it. Yet you sinners who dwell upon the earth do not fear Him.
101:8 Is He not the One who made heaven and earth and everything that is within them? And who has given knowledge and wisdom to all who move upon the earth and to those who are in the sea?
101:9 Do not the kings of ships fear the sea? Yet sinners do not fear the Most High.
102:1 “In those days, if He casts a flood of fire upon you, where will you flee, and where will you be saved? And when He sends forth His voice against you, will you not be shaken and afraid?
102:2 All the lights shall be troubled with great fear, and the whole earth shall be shaken, shall tremble, and shall quake.
102:3 All the angels shall fulfill their commands and shall desire to hide themselves from before the great glory. The children of the earth shall tremble and be troubled. But you sinners shall be cursed forever, and there shall be no peace for you.
102:4 Do not be afraid, you souls of the righteous, but hope for the day of your death in righteousness.
102:5 Do not grieve because your souls have descended into great suffering, anguish, humiliation, and into Sheol in sorrow, and because your bodies did not receive during your lives what your goodness deserved. Rather, remember the day on which you became sinners, and the day of curse and punishment.”
102:6 And when you die, sinners shall say concerning you: “The righteous have died just as we have died. What benefit have they gained from their deeds?
102:7 Behold, they have died like us, in sorrow and darkness. What advantage do they have over us? From now on we are equal.
102:8 What shall they receive, and what shall they see forever? For behold, they too have died, and from now on they shall never again see the light.”
102:9 “I say to you, sinners: You have had your fill of eating and drinking, stripping people bare, robbery, sin, acquiring possessions, and seeing good days.
102:10 Have you seen how the righteous came to their end in peace, because no oppression was found against them until the day of their death?
102:11 They perished and became as though they had never existed, and their souls descended into Sheol in suffering.”
103:1 “And now I swear to you, the righteous, by His great glory and honor, by His glorious kingdom and by His greatness; I swear to you:
103:2 I know this mystery, for I have read it upon the tablets of heaven. I have seen the writing of the holy ones, and I have found written and engraved within it concerning them:
103:3 All goodness, joy, and honor have been prepared for them and written down for the spirits of those who have died in righteousness. Abundant good shall be given to you in return for your labor, and your portion shall be greater than the portion of the living.
103:4 Your spirits, you who have died in righteousness, shall live, and their spirits shall rejoice and be glad. Their remembrance shall remain before the face of the Great One throughout all the generations of the world. And now do not fear their humiliation.
103:5 Woe to you, sinners, when you die in your sins, and those who are like you say concerning you, ‘Blessed are these sinners, for they have seen all their days.
103:6 And now they have died in prosperity and wealth. They saw no suffering or slaughter during their lives, and they died in glory. No judgment was executed against them during their lives.’
103:7 Know that their souls shall be brought down into Sheol, and they shall become evil, and their suffering shall be great.
103:8 Into darkness, into a snare, and into a burning flame your spirits shall enter, to the place of great judgment. And great judgment shall be upon every generation forever. Woe to you, for you shall have no peace.
103:9 Do not say to the righteous and the good who are alive: ‘In the days of our labor we have labored in toil. We have seen every kind of labor, and we have encountered many evils. We have been worn down and diminished, and our spirits have become small.
103:10 We have perished, and there was no one to help us in word or deed. We were powerless and found nothing. We suffered and perished, and we had no hope of seeing life from one day to the next.
103:11 We hoped to become the head, but we became the tail. We labored while working, yet we had no power over the fruit of our labor. We became food for sinners and rebels, and they made their yoke heavy upon us.
103:12 Those who hated us and those who struck us ruled over us. Before those who hated us, we bowed our necks, and they showed us no mercy.
103:13 We wished to go away from them, that we might flee and find rest, but we found no place to escape and be delivered from them.
103:14 We complained about them to the angels in our suffering, and we cried out against those who devoured us. But they did not see our cry, nor did they wish to hear our voice.
103:15 And they helped those who robbed and devoured us, and those who diminished us. They concealed their oppression and did not remove their yoke from us. Instead, they devoured us, scattered us, and killed us, and they concealed our murder. They did not remember that they had lifted up their hands against us.’”
104:1 I swear to you, righteous ones, that in heaven the angels shall remember you for good before the glory of the Great One. Your names shall be written before the glory of the Great One.
104:2 Hope, for formerly you suffered humiliation through evil and toil. But now you shall shine like the lights of heaven, and you shall be seen, and the gates of heaven shall be opened for you.
104:3 Cry out your cry for judgment, and it shall be made manifest for you. For all your suffering shall be investigated by the angels, and the deeds of all those who assisted the ones who robbed you shall be examined.
104:4 Hope, and do not abandon your hope, for great joy shall be yours, like that of the angels of heaven.
104:5 Whatever you may have to do, you shall not need to hide yourselves on the day of the great judgment. You shall not be found among the sinners, and the everlasting judgment shall be far from you throughout all the generations of the world.
104:6 And now do not be afraid, righteous ones, when you see sinners becoming strong and prospering according to their desires. Do not become companions with them, but keep far from their oppression, for you shall be companions of the host of heaven.
104:7 For you sinners say, “None of our sins is investigated, and none is written down.” Yet they are writing down all your sins every day.
104:8 And now I show you that light and darkness, day and night, behold all your sins.
104:9 Do not become foolish in your hearts. Do not lie, do not pervert the words of truth, do not falsely speak the words of the Holy and Great One, and do not praise your idols. For all your falsehood and all your wickedness do not lead to righteousness, but to great sin.
104:10 And now I know this mystery: many sinners shall alter and pervert the words of truth. They shall speak evil words and tell lies; they shall invent great fabrications and write books according to their own words.
104:11 But when they write down all my words truthfully in their own languages, and neither alter nor diminish anything from my words, but write everything truthfully, everything that I first testified concerning them;
104:12 Then I know another mystery: books shall be given to the righteous and the wise, bringing joy, truth, and abundant wisdom.
104:13 To them the books shall be given, and they shall believe in them and rejoice in them. And all the righteous who have learned from them all the ways of truth shall be rewarded.
105:1 And in those days the Lord said that they should call and make the children of the earth hear: “Show them in your wisdom, for you are their guides and their rewards upon the whole earth.
105:2 For I and My Son shall be joined with them forever in the ways of righteousness during their lives. And peace shall be yours. Rejoice, children of righteousness, in truth.”
106:1 And after some days, my son Methuselah took a wife for his son Lamech. She conceived by him and bore a son.
106:2 His flesh was white like snow and red like the flower of a rose. The hair of his head was like white wool, and his locks were beautiful. His eyes were beautiful, and when he opened them, he illuminated the whole house like the sun, and the whole house became exceedingly bright.
106:3 And when he rose from the hands of the midwife, he opened his mouth and spoke to the Lord of righteousness.
106:4 His father Lamech was afraid of him, and he fled and came to his father Methuselah.
106:5 And he said to him: “I have begotten a strange son. He is not like a human being, but resembles the children of the angels of heaven. His form is different, and he is not like us. His eyes are like the rays of the sun, and his face is glorious.
106:6 It seems to me that he is not from me, but from the angels. And I fear that something wondrous may happen upon the earth in his days.
106:7 And now, my father, I entreat you and ask you to go to Enoch our father and hear the truth from him, for his dwelling is with the angels.”
106:8 And when Methuselah heard the words of his son, he came to me at the ends of the earth, for he had heard that I was there. He cried out, and I heard his voice. I came to him and said: “Behold, here I am, my son. Why have you come to me?”
106:9 And he answered me, saying: “I have come to you because of a great matter, and because of a troubling vision with which I have approached you.
106:10 And now, my father, hear me. For a son has been born to my son Lamech, whose likeness and form are not like the form of human beings. His color is whiter than snow and redder than the flower of a rose. The hair of his head is whiter than white wool, and his eyes are like the rays of the sun. He opened his eyes and illuminated the whole house.
106:11 He rose from the hands of the midwife, opened his mouth, and blessed the Lord of heaven.
106:12 And his father Lamech became afraid and fled to me. He did not believe that the child was from him, but thought that his likeness was from the angels of heaven. And behold, I have come to you so that you may make known to me the truth.”
106:13 And I, Enoch, answered and said to him: “The Lord shall bring new things upon the earth. This I have learned and seen in a vision, and I make it known to you. For in the generation of Jared my father, they transgressed the word of the Lord from the heights of heaven.
106:14 And behold, they commit sin and transgress the ordinance. They have joined themselves to women and committed sin with them, taking wives from among them, and from them they have begotten children.
106:15 And great destruction shall come upon the whole earth. There shall be the waters of a flood, and great destruction shall take place in one year.
106:16 This child who has been born to you shall remain upon the earth, and his three children shall be saved with him. When all the people upon the earth die, he and his children shall be saved.
106:17 They shall beget offspring upon the earth who shall multiply, not offspring of spirit, but of flesh. And a great punishment shall come upon the earth, and the earth shall be washed clean from all corruption.
106:18 And now make known to your son Lamech that the son born to him is truly his, and call his name Noah. For he shall be a remnant for you, and he and his children shall be saved from the destruction that shall come upon the earth because of all the sin and all the rebellion that shall be accomplished upon the earth in his days.
106:19 And after this there shall be rebellion greater than that which was accomplished before upon the earth. For I know the mysteries of the holy ones, because the Lord has shown them to me and made them known to me, and I have read them upon the tablets of heaven.”
107:1 “And I saw written concerning them that generation after generation shall do evil, until a generation of righteousness arises. Then wrongdoing shall perish, and sin shall be driven away from the earth, and every good thing shall come upon it.
107:2 And now, my son, go and make known to your son Lamech that this child who has been born is truly his son, and that this is the truth and not falsehood.”
107:3 And when Methuselah heard the words of his father Enoch, who had revealed to him all the hidden things, he returned, having seen him, and named that child Noah, for he would bring joy to the earth after all its destruction.
108:1 Another book which Enoch wrote for his son Methuselah and for those who shall come after him and keep the ordinance in the latter days.
108:2 You who have acted rightly and who wait through these days until those who practice evil come to their end, and until the power of sinners is brought to an end:
108:3 As for you, remain steadfast until sin passes away. For their names shall be blotted out from the books of the holy ones, their offspring shall perish forever, and their spirits shall be slain. They shall cry out and lament in an unseen, desolate place, and they shall burn in fire, for there is no earth there.
108:4 And I saw there something like an invisible cloud, for because of its depth I was unable to look upon it. And I saw the flame of its fire burning gloriously, while things like shining mountains surrounded it and were shaken to and fro.
108:5 And I asked one of the holy angels who was with me, saying: “What is this glorious thing? For it is not heaven, but only the flame of a burning fire, and the sound of crying, weeping, lamentation, and severe suffering.”
108:6 And he said to me: “This place which you see is where the spirits of sinners and blasphemers are cast, and those who practice evil, and those who alter everything that the Lord has spoken through the mouths of the prophets concerning the things that shall be accomplished.
108:7 For some of these things are written and engraved above in heaven, so that the angels may read them and know what shall befall sinners, and the spirits of the humble, and those who afflicted their bodies and received recompense from God, and those who suffered humiliation at the hands of wicked people;
108:8 Those who loved God and did not love gold or silver or any of the good things of the world, but gave their bodies over to suffering;
108:9 And those who, from the time they came into being, did not desire the food of the earth, but regarded themselves as a passing spirit. This they observed, and the Lord tested them greatly, and their spirits were found pure, so that they might bless His name.
108:10 And I have recounted all their blessings in the books, and He has rewarded them, because they were found to love heaven more than their everlasting breath. And though they were trampled upon by wicked people and heard reproaches and insults from them and were humiliated, they continued to bless Me.
108:11 And now I shall call forth the spirits of the good from the generation of light, and I shall transform those who were born in darkness, who in their bodies were not repaid with the honor that their faith deserved.
108:12 And I shall bring forth into shining light those who have loved My holy name, and I shall seat each one upon the throne of the glory of His honor.
108:13 And they shall shine for times without number, for righteous is the judgment of God. For He shall give faith to the faithful in the dwelling place of the paths of righteousness.
108:14 And they shall see those who were born in darkness cast into darkness, while the righteous shine.
108:15 And sinners shall cry out when they see them shining and walking, while they themselves go to the place for which days and times have been appointed for them.
